I would love to post pictures but I signed an agreement that I would not.
I appreciate the nice comments.
We had an amazing experience. I had waited 18 years to draw that tag, and we passed on several nice bucks. My son had to hold my bullets so I would not shoot a lesser buck. I passed on a lot of bucks including two in the 185-190 range before I finally found my buck. It was a wild ride, and a hunt my son and I will remember for ever.

It's a good lesson to not sign the rights away. It's yours and you should demand full rights to any material. I took photos of a helicopter crash a few years ago and had Discovery Channel and others wanting them. They wanted full rights and I told them to take a hike. They still bought the rights to use them but I maintained full ownership. If the stuff is good enough, they will cave.

I havent received my copy of HF in the mail yet. Hopefully it is there when I get home from work tonight.
I agree, you don't HAVE to sign your life away to HF. I didn't sign the agreement last year and had my son's story published even though I posted pics and a hunt summary here first.
I got an email from HF a month or so ago asking me to submit stories for my son's ibex hunt and my mountain goat hunt. Told them that I had already posted pics/story here. They said that's ok. Not sure if I will submit the stories or not.

Pretty buck, he definitely has got his arms stretched out on it though, I say 27-28 wide 185-190.

Awesome buck! I am the guy that spoke to you less than hour prior to you harvesting this toad. I went back and looked over that wide tall buck with the deep back forks and large crab pincher front forks you told us about. I passed and then drove back up the road and saw you sitting on the hillside minutes prior to pulling the trigger. We spoke to your son down by the truck and he shared the story.... I wish I would have came up and congratulated you and saw this great buck in person. I recall you mentioning that morning passing on a great 190 typical on day two and questioning yourself. And then, an hour later you're holding a 199 buck - amazing. When I returned home I then saw you on the cover of Trophy Hunter magazine 2011 Fall issue - congrats to you both, a father & son hunt and great trophies harvested together. I was estatic to see you on the cover of HF (emag version) and to finally find you here. I have shared this story with a few people this past week. I ended up harvesting a nice typical - picture in February HF on inside cover lower left. Hope to see my story in HF this summer... Congratulations Rick on one very very nice buck!

Hey Moon-Chopper,
I dug out your photo and it appears that you killed a dandy as well. I was actually feeling a little bad that we turned you guys toward another buck we passed on, but you obviously passed as well and ended up killing a toad yourself! That might even be the buck we saw several days earlier, and after passing on him we were tormenting ourselves over our decision for days and we went back several times trying to find him again! At any rate, congratulations. I am thrilled you guys found a great buck as well! I will look for your story! Way to go my friend.

But he is a very deceiving buck, officially scoring 200 2/8 and nets 195 2/8 for what that is worth. We knew he wasn't real wide, but he has great mass. It is very easy to get hung up on width, and forget it contributes very little to total score.
