While out on a hike last evening I stumbled upon a doe and a newborn fawn, seems a little early for fawns doesn't it??? If the gestation period for a doe is 7 months, this doe would've had to go into estrus sometime in September. I'm not a biologist by any means, just found this very interesting.

That's good! I don't think the weather will be a problem for it right now, and it should be bigger than most fawns by next winter.

Well!

They sure the Hell weren't RUTTIN where I was Huntin in September last Fall!

It's been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
But this is still the place
That we all call home

If you would have gotten on your wheeler and drove in a few miles you would have found the rutting deer.

"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."

All you had to do is hop into your wheeler and tear up the mountains and get away from the crowds on the "ROADS", you would have seen these deer rutting. Roads are for law abiding hunters. Wheelers are for those that wnt to get away from the crowds off the roads.

well for some reason the rut started earlier this season i was watching bucks chasing tail in the last week in october during the rifle hunt. The buck my step dad killed we watched him chasing does and he looked and acted rutty. I also herd severl other reports from friends and fam that seen the same type of action
this was in southern utah... however late october is still on 6 months so im not sure what the case was with that, but maybe it was a premature fawn?

could've been, but it looked to be very healthy. It also (along with it's mother) covered more ground in 2 minutes than I did in an hour after I jumped them!
