FINALLY! a club I feel welcome in. I would love to join those other clubs, but I am just too low class.

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

Thanks to your help last fall, I finally forfeited
my membership. Well, at least half of it- but I'll
take it!

I'll never shoot a 200" buck, most likely. That sun
had already set. But, that's ok. Me and kids will be
hunting the Nomad in the least coveted region, for the
next few years...

You'd be more than welcome in UWC! Most, probably all, of our members have dual memberships, including me. And who's lower class than me, a 71 year old retired high school janitor who is living off of Social Security and a meager pension, and who has to road hunt or sit in a treestand because of ticker problems. And who, in 50+ years, hasn't taken a deer more than 22" wide or 152" B & C.

Now, I'll admit I wouldn't mind getting out of this ****cutter club (See, I'm so low class I don't even like the word.), but my goal is to just put ONE in the P & Y Club and the 30" and 200" won't matter! I'll still be a lifetime member!

BOMBARDEER. THATS RIGLHT ENJOY THE HUNT,SCORE DONT MEAN CRAP,,, SOME OF THE BEST HUNTS IVE HAD' WERE NOT MY 30 INCHERS OR MY 200. JUST ENJOY YOUR SELF,A MONSTER WILL COME ALONG SOME DAY,

every time a guy gets a tag you have a golden ticket at a chance of getting kicked out of the pisscutter club. some sooner and more often than others but thats what keeps a guy going.

LAST EDITED ON May-12-12 AT 05:56PM (MST)[p]It's really hard to describe to a Muley hunter the fulfillment one gets from finally seeing, getting, and making a clean shot on a 18" 3x3 with eyeguards. I don't even have a lot of those but i do have more than a few that were a little bigger and another bunch that were a little bit smaller. What they all had in common though was the fact that they were mature and didn't come easy, the biggest bucks to be found each year on the properties that i had access to hunt on. And, that they were Blacktails, pure as they get, a blast to hunt on foot with glass and a good, flat shooting rifle.

Some places and Ranches kicked out the occasional monster blackie. The country i hunted never had the genetics but that sure didn't stop this ol boy from hunting every day of our long season, passing up tons of lesser bucks, and eventually getting the best that that country had to offer.

Pisscutters? You betcha! I got lots and i'm proud of them!! :)

I naturally wouldn't mind joining some of those other clubs, but am fine with this one. I suspect that some of those who only want more and bigger bone on the wall have lost sight (if they ever had it) of the multitude of small pleasures that come with the hunt even in poor country with fewer deer and fewer yet big buck.

I was 58 when I got my 31 incher and thrilled to have gotten that buck and still have all my friends.

Different states and seasons, I've taken (right at) 100 mule deer.......enjoyed every single minute, whether it was a solo hunt resulting in a big one or a hunt with friends & family that resulted in "try again next week".

Within the shadows, go quietly.

I must say that you guys can see from my call name on this site, I am in the pisscutter club no doubt.

Will I get out of it, I really don't know.
I will keep trying.

hell ya, lets help the utah fish and game clean up this pesky deer problem, kill anything with horns! 'dont show them to me' ps: you cant kill good bucks, if you cant pass small ones!

last I checked we all are not trophy hunters

I say to each his own on some of the negative replies. I'm just as passionate as the next guy when it comes to hunting muleys. Yrs. ago hardly any hunters kept the antlers, and for a lot of us it was just about filling your tag and the experience. My Dad worked a 48-hour w/shifts work-week and odd jobs to boot, and with three kids along a lot of the time, we couldn't be too choosy, 'cause it was about filling the freezer as well. That's changed some, but I've never seen anything in game regulations or where it's unethical to take a "pisscutter", or even "sub-piscutter" Heck, the last crack I got at an even 160+ deer was over TEN yrs. ago! And, since that time it's averaged drawing a tag about every other year, with one two-year stretch in there.
Last two hunts went like this: had to cut short hunt four years ago when my 86 yr. old Dad took gravely ill on what was to be our last hunt together (he passed away the next year)...so didn't really get much hunting and passed on a couple of forkies. Then, a no draw year...and then for the first time ever, had my three sons all in camp for the next year, and on my 64th birthday two of them and a first-time hunting friend all bagged forkies. You would've thought from the behavior they'd bagged the biggest bucks on the mountain! I did see a couple of respectable bucks, but they were in a private pasture.Last year was another NO DRAW year, but hoping to get out again this Fall.
AND I'd like to add: to each his own and DEER HUNTING, always an adventure!

LAST EDITED ON May-19-12 AT 00:04AM (MST)[p]One of MY favorite hunts-

I was up in the Panhandle of Idaho hunting whitetail( buck or doe legal) with my 3 brothers and Dad...I volunteered to go with the youngest brother, that had not killed a deer. 30 minutes into the hunt it started raining. I told my brother I was gonna go find a semi-dry spot( I didn't tell him I just wanted a cigarette). So I found a nice huge conifer that had just the dry area I needed under its boughs. Where he went I don't know, honestly I thought he was 10 steps behind me....half way through my smoke, I caught movement off to my left- I can't see antler, so I pull the binos up...and depending on the position of the ears I THINK I see antler...wait, NO its a doe...but with all the moisture in the air, on my lenses, I can't tell...but this deer isn't in a hurry, so I start looking for my brother...making little noises to get his attention, etc... NO reply...I glass the deer again...I'm now 90% sure its a doe, and damned if I'm gonna spend all that money(with 2 days to hunt) and NOT have jerky!

I think I was over gunned with my .270, but that's all I had with me, and with 1 round at 110 yards, the little one fell... Needless to say there was no ground shrinkage! In fact it grew some antler while I was walking up to it...

The trophy,(time spend rubbing it in that lil bro should have stayed near enough to me to get his first deer) will be more valueable to me than the day I do hit 200" by myself.

The biggest buck I've ever seen was right at the last bits of light during a bowhunt several years ago. I strained my eyes out to see the sight pin and get a shot off, he ran just a little ways and I heard him crash. I waited for my buddy to go retrieve him and the whole time I'm telling him what a big buck this is, when we got to him he was a spike!!!
