Deep Creeks Worth the Drive??

So, I was lucky enough to pull my 3rd choice general archery tag, West Desert West. :-/
Haven't been out to the Deep Creeks in 10-15 years....and found a few good bucks back then....but how are the deer numbers and quality NOW?? Is it worth the trip out there....with regards to Deer numbers & buck quality if my sights are on a 160"-170" class muley with the bow??

Not much to tell. Deer herd is really hurting there.
I don't know anything about deer on the Cedars other than 2 years ago I was chukar hunting on them and jumped a pretty nice buck. Only deer I saw though.

Its called ( HUNTING ) hunt your butt off and turn up a nice buck i did last year seen two bucks all week shot a nice 24 wide 6x6 last day. Biggest buck to date waiting anytime now for him to come home to my wall. Good luck

deer #s are way down, and the elk #s seem to be sliding as well now. If you just want to get out of the city they yes worth the drive. I haven't seen much this winter and spring. about half the deer from befor. It will be a hard hunt for sure.

No one that actually hunts this general area who has any brains will tell you where they are or how to kill them. Dont listen to the nay sayers! Put your boots to the ground and go find you a deer! Nothing worse then sitting on your heals watching everyone else hunt when you have a tag in your own hand.

So go hunt it and come to your own conclusions.
If quality to you is a 24 inch buck that you only see one all week then by all means it may be well worth it for you.

I agree, not worth the drive at this point. Herd is hurting. Indians are over hunting. Cats are out of control. Now on the other hand a cougar hunt may be worth it.

I never said i hunted out there. I was just saying if you hunt hard you should be able to turn up a nice buck. You have to almost step on them big ones to get them up. Sorry my buck i shot last year is not worth your time or lacked quality.

True, for some the quality of the hunt includes far more than the number of bucks seen or a limit on acceptable size. A nice 24" buck is a trophy to many...
