Nevada Unit 71-79 Late Deer Hunt

The draw gods were looking down upon me and I was able to draw this great late season tag. Does anyone have any information on the unit. I'm hoping to have an opportunity to shoot a 190" or better deer.

Looking at going into the Jarbidge wilderness with 1 of 2 outfitters that hunt that area. Anyone have any experience with hunting this wilderness area? I've hear with the fire about 4 years ago and some mild winters has the big deer making a nice comeback???

Welcome! Don't know much about the Jarbridge for the late season hunt, but I had your deer tag a few years ago. I hunted for 8 days before killing the deer I wanted. You should see decent bucks every day.

If you're looking for an outfitter, I'd recommend Cary Jellison with G&J Outdoors. He has a lot of experience in NV, has taken many quality bucks, and has guided that hunt before. He's also a sponsor of this site.

You've set a lofty goal at 190" or better. I hope you find one!

Thanks GK for the information. I have talked to Cary and gave him serious consideration. He had another hunter that week and was willing to ask him to move his hunt so he could guide me. In the end I thought a pack in trip would be a little more enjoyable. Cary has a great reputation and puts you on some great deer.
