Unit 40 idaho

My buddy drew one of the 2 nonresident archery deer tags in unit 40. I've been to the unit once before for a few days in September and saw some monsters. For this archery hunt (Aug 15) what would be the best way to hunt it? Find water or spot and stalk? Anyone else had this tag before on here? How big of a buck should he hold out for?

You would likely get more response in the Idaho forum.

If your friend doesn't have a lot of time or experience in the unit, I wouldn't pass on the first mature 4 point. Spot and stalk is likely your best option. If you are in the trees, I wouldn't sit on water unless you know there is a mature deer using that particular water. Lots of glassing. Just my opinion.
