LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-12 AT 00:57AM (MST)[p]Just got back to CA from our DIY Public Land hunt. My dad and Ben both killed on day 2, then I found one I wanted to kill on day 4. Ben's buck was 14 miles back, mine was 9, and my dad's was 6. My dad hunted hunted alone, and at age 52 he was a beast in making 2 twelve-mile trips packing his buck out of some gnarly country. All 3 of us hunted together on my buck. Spotted mine about a mile and a half and 2500 ft of elevation away, and had an hour of light to get there. Ended up making it in the best stalk of my life, and putting 2 bullets an inch apart behind his shoulder at 350 yards on the dot. Added 3.25 MOA to the scope and held dead on. In total we walked/packed about 60 miles in 4.5 days. Believe it or not, we were able to kill the 3 best bucks we saw. The pics of my dad's buck were on his camera which I don't have yet.

Wow. Nice hunt. Awesome photos. I love the cape on that second buck. Also love the stock on that bottom rifle.

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

Nice job. Its always nice to see someone work hard for a trophy. Looks like you boys earned those bucks. What state were you guys hunting? You said CA, but is that where you were, or where you're from?

Thanks all! Yeah, from CA, hunted NV.

About the stock... that's just the factory Winchester composite stock that I bedded and painted. And the cape, yes it's a beautiful one for sure. He's going on the wall! Thanks again.

Great job! what a fun looking hunt. I love your photos, and story.
I am jealous as heck, looks like you had a great time.

Great pics, and congrats, but over 13 miles a day hiking. I want to shake your hand! The average man hikes at an avg. of 1 mile per hour in the mountains. That makes for some long days, sometimes it feels a lot farther than it is..............

Wow. That is awesome. Love the pics. I feel sorry for you having to pack that big ole brute.......wait a minute, no I don't!

Way to go Todd! Those are some great bucks! Sounds like you guys sure earned them. Any blacktails this year? Haven't seen you on btc!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-07-12 AT 03:33PM (MST)[p]Hey Andy, good to hear from you. Yeah got a nice 4x3 on the opener of archery then a 20" 4x4 at the end of general. So that's six 4-pointers in a row. No more BTC for me, probably why you haven't seen me over there.

Hit me up on fb, I just got around to making one of those things.
