I am asking for some help here.. My Grandfather is 86 and having heart problems. He drew the Paunsaugunt managment tag this year and has never Shot a 30" buck in his life. He has been a avid hunter his whole life but has just never had the opportunity to get a big buck and this will be his last chance. I understand that I am playing on peoples heart strings here but If you have a Grandfather or Dad that you could fill one of his dreams wouldn't you try? If anyone has any information on were a nice buck would be and could help us out I would greatly appreciate it.
As we all can relate you can imagine were this stands on his bucket list. Please PM me with any info. We are heading down on Sat the 27Th and will be up Johnson canyon.

Thanks again!!

I THINK YOU SHOULD GO ALITTLE EARLY THREE OR FOUR DAYS, FIND THE WATER ON THE BUCKSKIN AND START FROM THERE, GO OVER THE BUCKSKIN TOWARD ARIZONA THERE IS A DIRT TANK DOWN THERE, GOOD LUCK

Ya we have been down once spotting. Thanks for the Advice!! We have 3 days of spotting before the hunt starts. I hope its enough..

Anywhere from Johnson to Buckskin is a good place to be. My advice would be to cover as many miles as you can during the prime time hours and you will eventually catch a good one with his pants down on the side of a dirt road that the old man will be able to jump out and hammer. Take the truck with the best suspension, hit the dirt roads, and put your foot into the pedal on the right. Keep an eye out for a big fresh track crossing the road. Good luck.

I have no information to offer, but hope your grandpa experiences a cool hunt with you, regardless of what he takes. All the best.

i was in your shoes just a few short years ago. we got my grandpa a management tag out there as well knowing it would be his last chance to hunt the pauns. wanting to shoot a 30incher is probably not very realistic. possible, but a very long shot. i've been out there almost every day for the past two weeks and if i were you i would spend most of my time south of hwy 89. they are getting smacked by cars big time right now and the jepson area is thick with deer right now. i'm sure you can find deer out in nephi pasture and up over crocodile as well but you just wont see the number of deer you will see south of the highway. anywhere south from about milepost 43 to 36 you'll find a lot of deer. good luck. hope your gramps shoots a dandy
