After putting in a lot of time on 102 this year my old man decided (more like was talked into by me and my bro) to squeeze the trigger on this buck Sunday morning. My dad had high hopes going into this hunt as the last time we hunted the unit my uncle took a 200" typical. I also hunted the unit a few years before that and had a riot. Overall the unit is in bad shape, nothing like years past. The numbers are way down. Anyway this is the best buck we could turn up in all the days on the unit. It was also my brother and I last day to help out, so it worked out pretty good. Just another great day hunting with my family to store in my memory bank. He taped out right at 170 for those interested.

Very cool! Congrats on a great buck. Using a boat to hunt, don't see that very often unless you are in the Boundry Waters (Minnesota).

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Nice one! Commend you for giving the unit out too. Lots of guys on here act as if though they give the unit their honey holes will come under attack from the Iranians. What state is 102 in?

Thats a good looking buck! Looks fun hunting out of a boat!

>Nice, I like the atv !
>How did those down riggers
>work for ya .:D

Down Riggers worked great, the net however was not big enough!

I bet it's tough to glass from the boat with the waves and all! :)

With the condition 102 is in I'd say you guys did just fine.

Congratulations!

We lucked out on a beautiful morning with no wind and the lake to ourselves. It came up good later on though for the trip back to the truck. It has been a windy ##### the last couple weeks!

Pretty sweet looking buck and fun looking hunt. Did you bring your wakeboard and wetsuit along? Glassy looking water there. I have thought about doing the boat hunt on the UT side and fishing for smallmouth and Macs during the middle of the day when the hunting got slow. Congrats!

Tell your pops congrats on the buck. I helped my Step father with his tag last year and I agree the area is not as good as it used to be, but I think that is true with every area. We still had a great time and saw some decent bucks. He ended up shooting a 26" solid 4 with eye gaurds.

I wish I was still a resident there so I could draw that tag again. I drew it when I was in High School and it was a blast.

Where are you from smoktem?

SLC Area. Herriman to be exact.

>Great buck for 102 nowdays.Congrats.Was that
>buck with does?

There was 10-15 does and 6-7 other smaller bucks in the canyon in the general area, none looked to rutty if that is what you are wondering. I did see a buck chasing a doe across a huge flat the day before, reminded me of a speed goat.

Congrats on the buck. Your family must have the midas touch to draw that unit more than once. I can't seem to draw a decent deer tag in Wyoming to save my life.....someday....someday.
