Here in 72/73. Have no clue what these units have to offer or where to start.... But I'm gonna give it all I have. If anyone has advice send it my way. Ill post pics if I get into them.
I was in the la platas today. Kinda was hoping to find higher concentrations of deer up there but it's not looking like it. All the locals and elk hunters said it was pretty pointless looking up there. I'm looking at maps now to find some lower elevation public ground to focus on. Any ideas?
There is quite a bit of public land around Cortez. I would focus more around that area. Are you familiar with it at all? What was the elevation you were hunting today?
I was around 9000 feet yesterday. Gonna take your advice and head towards Cortez this morning. Looks like lots of public big canyons. This is my first time ever in this part of the world. Amazing country and bigger than it looks. Ill report back later. Thanks for your help. Hopefully I get into them.
If your seeing a lot of deer in the private low country then they have probably started migrating. Look for blm around or nearby the private. The deer will feed in the fields then hit the ridges to bed. Has the rut kicked in yet? Hope you find them.
