Research Project

I have been viewing great pictures and stories of others on this site for years. I have noticed there are always a select few that seem to always argue about the post or with other posts of others.
I just want to see what others think about the survey I have(think as into taking the survey). It will be an ongoing research project for myself the next few years of school.
Thank you for those that take the survey in advance, and your honesty is key to the survey. I am looking at just a few aspects as you will notice in the survey and not everything is included.
Thanks again

Done. Not that it matters but sometimes is spelled wrong on Question 1.

Done. One of those was a real thinker... Went with my gut in the end. Overall I think its a pretty good survey.

I think that question #8 should be changed. It's too vague in my opinion, and needs to exclude (or include) trophy big game animals. I live by a reservation and see this survey played out daily. They recieve an abundance of government and tribal assistance along with the ability to harvest game year round with a very liberal season. Most abide by the seasons/regulations and harvest game just for food, but their are still quite a few that hunt the ruts and kill the biggest bucks and bulls that they can find. I know that my opinion of tribal hunting is limited to my area and the tribe that I live by. I don't want to change the direction of this thread. I just wanted to state my opinion of this survey.

Thank you for those that have taken the survey. Again the more the better.

Jmagee84- I see were you are coming from. When doing a survey it is super hard to make sure you include everything. I myself wanted to include more, but I was limited. Thank you for taking your time to take the survey, and thank you for your response in the post. I will use all responses in this project as well.

Took your survey. I though number 8 was an interesting question.

The fact is I think that most poaching is done with "trophy" in mind, not "food".

If the state issued a "subsistance" tag to those households that earn less then $20,000 per year I would not be opposed to that. They could use the tag for the general season and harvest any animal. That would be fine by me too.

Gonna stir the pot with this suggestion!!

Took it. Nothing hard about it at all. Poaching is poaching regardless of the motive. If you take an animal out of season with out a tag etc. It is a crime.

Anyone who claims that poaching to feed the family is OK is completely wrong. Ultimately if they have a vehicle, a gun, and the ability to sneak out and shoot something illegally then they have means to feed the family. Last year they busted a guy here who was only out to feed his family(it was not a huge buck but big enough).

The guy had 2 snowmobiles in the driveway that are paid for, a trailer, and all sorts of other things he could have sold cheap. Simply put in today's world there is no place for poaching. It has nothing to do with tags availability, etc. Right now I know of 3 places I could go and get a free meal for my family. If needed I sell off one gun and have enough to buy food for 3 months. Imagine how much food a person can buy for $500 if they go into knowing that they needed to survive.... Sorry just had to share my opinion.

+1

It's damn expensive to hunt. There's really no hunting just for food nowadays.

In today's society I could not justify poaching to feed my family. In a hypothetical situation where all the wildlife belong to the king who wouldn't let you hunt them or in a situation like the current TV show "revolution" I would have to think harder about the question. I feel Robin Hood was justified in feeding the poor. That just isn't the case today. There are other vehicles to provide food.
