Here is a video of my Dad's 2012 Muzzy Deer Hunt. This was an incredible experience for all of us. This video has a little of everything in it - good deer action, kill shot, and emotions of our fun experience. An unforgettable last second hunt. My story is posted in the Hunt Adventure Challenge Forum and is definitely worth a read to understand all the crazy moments. Lots more pictures too. Hope you enjoy!

Why not put another bullet in him to put him out of his misery? "Lets go back and get our packs maybe he'll be dead by then".

Always fun when there are family members there with you to share the experience. Nice job.

Just to clarify - he was pretty much dead. I think those were some nerves or just a last motion of his head. He did not suffer much or for very long. If you read the HAC story you would see that it was a great shot that busted both shoulders and double lunged him. He died quickly. I don't like to see animals suffer and have myself shot bucks at point blank just to put them out of their misery. This case, in my opinion, didn't deserve another shot just cause he moved his head once. We instead, gave him a moment while we went back up to grab our stuff before we tried to move him. I have nothing but respect for the animals we pursue but I do appreciate your comment. I think some would have shot him again while others wouldn't. I think it is a case by case thing and I gave you my reasons as to our decision. Thanks for watching!

Hey Fs,

What kind of ML & scope is your dad shooting? I'm interested in getting a ML this year and am trying to do my homework before dropping the dough. Looks like a nice shot your pops made!

That was fun to watch. Your dad made a nice shot!!!

Did any coyotes hit the dust with the rifle?

Nice hunt! Thanks for sharing. Pretty cool to scatter a bunch of "bachelor bucks" like that, and end up getting the biggest! Years ago, I did something similar with seven mature bucks, but in the excitement of them scattering like a covey of quail, got the smallest buck, a 20" three point!Congratulations!

No coyotes hit the dust this time. Missed a couple long shots/moving shots.

eyeguard - We shoot the Thompson Center Omega 50 cal. muzzleloaders. Awesome guns. I highly recommend them. My dad has a 1 power fixed Sightron scope that he uses. I shoot mine open sights. My dad has killed all his bucks with one shot. His first was 205 yards, then 140 yards, and this one 180 yards. Whatever you choose to go with, practice it enough to find a load that works best for you and you will have an awesome time hunting with it.
