As many of you know, I shot a rather large buck this year with my bow. On Thursday evening, I picked up the buck from the taxidermist. We spent the night at my in-laws in Sandy. Sometime Thursday night, my car window was broken out, and the buck was stolen.

As you can see from the picture, there are matching kickers, a 16" inline point, and only one eyeguard. I was having artificial velvet put on it so when it was stolen, it was just a cleaned up skull and all the velvet is off the antlers. Right now, the antlers and skull are washed and bleached white.

I know it is a long shot, but if you could forward this message and picture to your hunting friends along the Wasatch Front, just maybe someone will come across my buck. thank you for forwarding this email to anyone you know that may come across it.

I noticed that this information about the Stolen Trophy Buck has not been posted here as of yet , it is all over FaceBook . Many peeps here do not have a FaceBook , hence , please keep your eyes open for this "True Sportsman's " Life Time Trophy , and let's put the pathetic thief in jail for stealing it . Thanks everyone !!!

That buck is a stud.....would make me a very sick man to have that thing stolen from me. I hope that he can be reunited with his trophy.

What a dirt bag!! I hope you can track it down. Wish I could help you but I live down in southern utah. That buck is a stud though, i hope you can get it back.

"They shed em...I find em"

Makes me sick knowing people are out there that can sink so low.
I hope you have lots of good pics from the hunt. I know it's not the same but a framed great pic may lesson the pain of the loss.
Hopefully someone finds an idiot bragging making up stories and recognizes this buck as yours.
Best,
Jerry

What a bunch of crap! I can't believe what people are willing to do to get their hands on an animal of this caliber. I hope they catch 'em and fry 'em.

Ridiculous!

Good luck and I will keep my eyes out and pass along.

When there are people out there that spend a quarter of a million dollars for the privilege of killing an animal,of course there are those who would steal one!
In case you haven't noticed, the critter is worth more than the hunt nowdays!Pretty sad situation we're in nowdays!
Hope you find your buck,AMM.Sounds like a crime of opportunity;probably someone local.Maybe run an ad in the local paper with some pics of your buck??

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-12 AT 05:40AM (MST)[p]There have always been people who would covet/steal a beautiful set of antlers, even before they were worth a lot of money. That said, they were probably stolen for the money they will bring, which might increase your odds of finding them if they change hands.

Sorry about your loss and hope you catch the low life

Thats a bummer. I have people coming through here from time to time selling trophies. I will keep my eyes peeled. Good luck to you.

Man that is crazy. Seems like there is a lot of stealing going on lately or maybe just more people talking about it. I am going to have to make sure I take all the precautions with my gear from now on.

I hope you can find your deer very disturbing what people will steal.

You've got to be kidding me! These are the type of people that I would like to catch in the act and and arrow them right in the guts. I was hunting with some guys this season that had their sleeping bag stolen right out of their campsite. I was thinking of putting up some boobie traps butit would probably backfire on me.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-12 AT 11:46AM (MST)[p]So sad, so sickening!
I would love to catch one of these DB's in the act. I hate theives!

Good luck MM hunting brother,
Zeke

PS: keep us posted please.

That really stinks. A lot of things that are stolen can be replaced, except for a trophy rack. Hopefully all the other Taxis in the area will keep an eye out for it too. Hope it ends well.

Keep your eyes peeled on craigslist and ebay for the loser trying to make some fast cash.

makes me sick, we had an elk stolen one year but it was a spike, they left the head and took the meat, which if there that hungry then they need it worse then I do.
To steal a head takes a true ass, we can expect this a lot more the next four years with obama in, everyone wants there handout

Thanks for taking the time to forward this to your friends. I know my odds of getting my buck back are not good, but I'm glad that folks are willing to keep an eye out for it.

Of course, it's my best buck yet, go figure.

thanks again.

Ya, at least the dumbass theived know enough not to jack a 2x3.

I hope you get it back and the theives ROT in the crotch area of some rare virus!

Zeke

While I understand the purpose of this thread is to help retrieve a stolen buck and I truly hope the individual gets his buck back...I can't help but nearly vomit when I see who started a thread on such a subject! In fact, I can't believe he would have the gaul to post anything that has to do with stolen bucks or thievery in any generality! What a joke! If it was my buck that was missing, my #1 suspect would be the absolute joke that started this thread!

Wow! This thread just took an unexpected turn. Could you please elaborate Mr. GZ?

I am interested to see if Mike has enough of them guts to step up himself and let everyone here know just exactly why he did some time behind bars a few years ago. Literally sick to my stomach to see someone like him make a post like this...the sheer and utter and irony if beyond comprehension!

I think a little clarification is in order here. I am the guy in the photo, holding my buck before it was stolen last week. As I think most folks would do, I sent out emails to all of my hunting buddies asking them to be on the lookout for my rack. I also posted on on Hunttalk and Utahwildlife.net, as well as here on MM. check the campfire, under "stolen buck" on page one.

I am assuming that GZone is referencing AZmulies, and not myself. However, if I am wrong, apparently GZone is somebody I have offended somewhere along the way. At any rate, I am grateful to AZmulies and anyone else that is willing to post the story anywhere it may be seen. For anybody else reading, please feel free to pass the story and photo along to your friends in the SLC area.

As a reminder, the skull and antlers are both bleached white right now, in preparation for the artificial velvet that was about to be put on. I have several more photos of the buck from various angles as well. If you do happen to come across my buck, please contact me at [email protected].

thank you for your time.

I am 100% referring to AZMIGHTYMULIES....sorry for the confusion. I truly hope you get you buck back.

klunk,

I am curious what happened to the original velvet? It looks perfect in the photo? I have a good feeling that you will get your horns back as your picture has been seen by many. Hope it comes back to you, I know I would be sick about it.

I also agree. That velvet looks awesome why did it need to be striped off. I'm really confused with what's going on here reading the previous posts. Whats going on??? Awesome buck. Hopefully u get it back. A buck of that caliber can't go undetected for long. My eyes are open. Best of luck to ya.

jizzy_one - You cut loose with some serious hate right there. You care to elaborate or you just gonna leave us hanging? Some guys have been called out on MM over the years and their accusers usually lay out all the facts.

Same as everyone else.......nice deer, hope you get it back and why strip the original velvet?

Is the suggestion that someone was incarcerated for stealing another set of antlers? (Not saying it wouldn't be proper but I've never heard of that.)

Within the shadows, go quietly.

I personally know klunk and he is a top notched person of true character.. And the original attack, I believe was on the original poster, needless to say, we need to get this thread back to what the original post was and not on someone else's history (is/was)... Obviously he is trying to help this get passed a long for someone he probably doesn't know.. i To hope we find and recover this buck since it was awesome to hold in my hands... Having become friends with klunk, he is always welcome to come back again next year and shoot another bruiser, after all he put the hard work in for that stud... Lets just help him get it back.

Guys, you are right...this thread was started for klunk and the hopeful return of his buck that was stolen. I am sorry I got the thread off track......however, I just found it HUGELY ironic that someone who was charged, convicted, found guilty, and did time for stealing not ONE...not TWO...but THREE giant mule deer heads from people's residence (that's right, as in broke into their homes and stole mule deer heads from off the wall), has the gaul to post a "let's nail this thief" thread on this site.

My deepest apologies for again getting this thread off track....but it literally gutted me to see someone who has affected me through his own thieving, have the gaul to post something like this. My bad for not just letting it lie........but klunk, the feelings you have toward the person who recently stole your buck, I absolutely and legitimately hold toward AZMIGHTMULIES (Mike Foote). So there ya go...there's the long and short of it and again, sorry for de-railing the true purpsose of this thread. Best of luck in getting your buck back to where it belongs.

You've never heard of someone being incarcerated for burglary?

Wow, that's crazy! I hope you get your buck back for sure, but also I'm looking forward to the bashing that's about to take place!

Shouldn't we consider it time served? Maybe the system reformed him and he has took his life a different direction and seen the light?

OK... Now that I finally see what life is like being a naive feel good liberal. Let the beatings begin.... This will get very interesting...

PS I hope all stolen property has been or will be returned to proper owners.

Now let the games begin

Thank you for providing the "rest of the story".

Of course, I've heard of burglary....never seen it applied to antlers (although I certainly think it should be). I've been around when friends & neighbors have had antlers stolen....just never seen the authorities "care".

The latest being, three weeks ago....the (190ish head from this fall) head was hanging in the basement of his locked warehouse (along with three lesser deer). Complete with "flashlights & boltcutters", someone broke in and took the one large head.

It was the largest deer the three brothers (or their dad & uncles) had ever taken.....several lifetimes of hunting. He's having a difficult time getting the attention of the local police department (and he's a former prosecuting attorney)....of course, he has several pictures to prove it WAS there.

Within the shadows, go quietly.

This guy "original post" needs to post his name and violations, if any,
So we know if we need to sympathize with his situation and do what we can to help, or thank the karma gods for getting even!

Pay attention, would ya. Klunk is the one who had his buck stolen and who is the one pictured. AZMIGHTYMULIES is the one who copied and pasted the info from Facebook and is the one who's been in prison. It's interesting that Ryan Hatch was the one who posted the info on Muley Crazy's Facebook page about Klunk's buck being stolen and even more interesting that Ryan Hatch is one of the guys whose home AZMIGHTYMULIES burglarized and stole from while he and his family were home asleep.

Wow, people really do amaze me . First of all, I find it very pathetic and inconsiderate that someone ( GZ_One ) comes on here and Kills this Thread/Topic , getting this Topic
(Stolen Buck) way out of whack , as this Thread is meant to Help someone in recovering his Stolen Trophy Buck back .
Now GZ_One , whoever you are , is pointing out some accusations regarding my past mistakes . As I've once answered on here once before a few years or so ago, yes I made several mistakes and what GZ_One has mentioned is TRUE !!! However, all these mistakes I'd made go back to when I was 11yrs old , and I'm now 34 yrs old . To provide a little clarification and shed some light , unlike the majority of you , I did not grow up having a Father Figure throughout my whole life , due to his wrong doings . I ended up hanging w/ the wrong peeps, became a punk kid myself and had no care in the world , got into trouble , plenty of trouble ,drugs for 11 yrs , going to Juvenile Jail , and Adult Jails until I was 24 yrs of age . I wanted to kill my Dad for what he did .My last incarceration I did 2yrs straight . Those 2 years allowed me to clear my mind from all the Drugs and segregated me from my past F##Ked up friends . I went to college for the first time during those 2 years and became somebody . When I got out of incarceration, I did not bring the Prison mentality out w/ me and to this day have never once seen or involved myself around those past "So Called Friends" etc . I then also had Forgiven my Dad , even though I don't talk to him much or see him much , though that may soon change as he is close to losing his life dealing w/ Kidney and Heart failure in Oregon .
I served my penance , paid all my 30k+ fines off , work hard for my $$, and live as a "LAW Abiding Citizen" . I'm not the punk kid I once was, I'm a Honest Man , and about as honest and candid as the come .Those I violated also forgive me, as they've made mistakes as well when they were younger . I don't live my life in denial, I'll tell ya how it is . I'll do anything to help anybody if I am able , anytime . No, I'm not the FBI, never said I was , I did mention a few years ago that I was helping the FBI w/ the Online Pedophile stings , which I was, w/ my former Federal Probation Officer , whom happens to be one of my best friends to this date . Like I said, if I can help anyone and make a great difference in there life I will, is why I also initiated this Thread in the first place . The Guy w/ the Stolen Buck, I don't even know the guy . I saw the Thread on Trophy Hunters Face Book page, I pasted on my FB page and here to help the Sportsman out . Made phone calls to several Antler Buyers, to be sure they were aware of the Stolen Buck .
Anyways, there's the clarification for the last time . Just remember, we all made mistakes in our life . Whether you learn from them and grow up responsibly is up to you , if you deny that you've never made mistakes , you're not only being dishonest to others , but you're being dishonest to yourself .
Now , I may have to redue this Thread ....lol . But let's help this True Sportsman recover his Trophy of a lifetime . Hopefully this POS thief is caught . Thieves are low lifes . In this Case, this would be a Felony Theft , as I would value this Rack to be over 1000.00 . So remember that , because then the perp will do some good time in jail . anyone feel free to call me as well !!! 435-216-8126 .

BTW , for those whom may still have any animosity for the mistakes I've made in my years , be man enough to confront me in person and lets see what you may have to say . Let's chat , rather than hiding behind the scene's of the computer . or call me let's talk. whatever works for you better . Hell, let's go shed hunting , I'll take anyone shed hunting !!! 435-216-8126

I can appreciate change, and humility. I too have made plenty of mistakes. Good for you! Happy you were able to overcome your challenges. I hope the hunter gets his buck back, I will certainly keep my eyes out!

one other thing that I must add ... Anyone whom is hating on other's , degrading others, that individual is only throwing all his own Pity , his own self discontent, his own hate , onto others .

What did you do when you "went to college"..? Sorry, but I just could not help myself

"I could agree with you, but then we would both be
wrong......and stupid"

Its sad that AZ has to come on here and defend himself for something That doesn't even pertain to this case! I commend him for admitting his wrongs and being up front and honest! I have never met the guy and probably never will. But who of you are perfect????? People can reform.

"Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day!" -Harry S. Truman

My question and curiosity is ,Why was the velvet stripped off .It looks to be in really good condition ,Is there damage that is not visible ?

Hello GZ_One,

We all feel anger & want "revenge" or "justice" when we are wronged. I know I do!

I started following this thread for the same reasons most everyone else did. It infuriates me when I read about these kind of cowardly crimes, I hoped, & still hope, that this person is able to recover his well earned trophy.

Then you posted!

After that, I really wanted to find out what that was all about.
Now we all know that too!

I hope that you will someday be able to let your anger go! It is a heavy burden to carry around.

It sounds like AZMIGHTYMULIES has turned himself around and is man enough to look anyone on here in the eye, including himself.

That's good enough for me!

Yeah, real sad PaleHorese that someone who claims to be as honest as they come was caught not just 3 months ago (as in August of 2012) THIEVING yet again. And not only caught red-handed, but also confessed, and returned in person, "some" of the stolen property! Sure wish I had enough proof to get him to confess and/or convicted of the property of mine and others that came up missing last year as well...but I don't.

And just as a reminder AZMIGHTMULIES (Mike Foote), it was 2004 when you stole the deer heads. At 26 years old, I think that would make you more than an accountable adult. So the facade that we are to believe you were nothing but a neglected and troubled youth just going through learning curves and growing pains should be aired out to the truth as well. You want people to stop bringing up your past...then stop being a thief!

And muleycraz...yes, I would also LOVE to believe that our corrections department has done its job and believe me, I have wanted to forgive and forget, but AZMIGHTYMULIES (Mike Foote) simply continues to show that the only thing that he has changed is that he has the gift of gab and that he is just as silver-tongued as the Commander in Chief that we currently have. Sad thing is, both of them will always be able to persuade many into believing their smoke-screens and mirrors.

Again, klunk, I am extremely embarrassed and very sorry for taking the main focus off of here. No matter what is replied to on this thread...you have my word that this is the last time I will make a post here. I just had to expose the truth about someone who simply continues to be nothing more than a common thief...when the person who stole your head is caught, I hope that is the last time you ever have to deal with him.

GZ_One, you're just proving yourself to be a Hater and a Liar , and in many's perspective that's pretty distasteful . You say I was caught Red handed stealing 3 months ago ... You're a Liar !! You say I stole property of yours last year ? Now that I know who you are I'm assuming your Cameras were on 13b correct ? If that''s the case I was not even once on 13b last year until December , I was on 13a the whole time , I got concrete proof of that . At the beginning of this season I had set up my Cameras at 50 different locations on 13b . When I returned , to the locations, one of my cameras was stolen, the other was broken into, I saw other Cameras had been taken and others broken into at the same location as well. Since I knew the individual owner of the broken into cameras , I set there camera down behind the Corral and tree , rather than taking it . I made phone calls to the Authorities , and the individual owners of the other cameras .Since the individual owner of the camera was not around for over a week, he told me if I could go out there and grab his camera for him .So I did . Because of my past everyone automatically assumed and wanted to believe it was me doing the stealing .But I've been able to prove them wrong in many ways. Whoever is doing the stealing is using Bolt Cutters , as the crimping on my 1/4" lock proves to be so . Then as I've been on 13a the last few months, guess what, the thieving on 13b still has not stopped . As time has gone by , myself and others have gotten more of an idea who is continuing to do the stealing of our cameras . In the mean time , I am utilizing 16 cameras as Traps , until I or someone catches the individual taking/breaking into our cameras . 4 Spypoint wireless2 , several bushnell's and few stealthcams . So, w/o facts, and before pointing a finger at me, remember there are 3 fingers pointing at you .

Hope the hunter finds his buck. Best of luck to you AZMightymulies. We all try to learn from past mistakes. Some make progress and some don't. I like your attitude.

Glad to hear AZ has tried to turn things around. Goes to show that you pay for mistakes forever. Hard to make a good second impression. You will be suspect in all cases forever, and rightly so.
Hope the hunter finds the buck. I don't know why a person would steal another's trophy. The chances of getting caught if you show it off or sale it are to great.

It's all about ego and money. If you have big deer heads in your house, other hunters will think you're awesome.

That's a good reason if you're an egotist.

Someone mentioned that rack could be worth $1,000.00.

That's a good reason if you're a criminal.

Poachers and thieves many times get caught because they like to boast.Hopefully that happens in this case.

I still don't understand why you would steal someone's trophy to make yourself look good. I might be wrong but can't you just buy a model that you can't tell from the real thing? You can then have it made as big as you want and call yourself the greatest hunter on the planet. Hope you get your deer back.

Just one thought this is possibly high school age boys and may go in their garage or hangout, if your able do some self investigation or find a cop as an advocate for you. Reward at local high school on school web-site if allowed or flyers talk to school counselor. We've had several incidents like this that usually involve 15 to 20 year old kids. They've all been solved in the above way.

>put it on facebook hopefully we
>can get the word out
>and find the dirtbag that
>stole it...

Damn good idea! I'm surprised no one else thought of that!...

To avoid confusion at the outset why didn't AZMIGHTYMULIES state that this is not him and that he was doing it in good will? Second I feel horrible for the individual that lost this buck but it should be a wake up call for anyone with a head that has sentimental value to protect it appropriately. I know of three to four animals I have taken that if lost or stolen would almost devastate me. Not necessarily because of size but because of attachment to the hunt and the experience. Certainly we cannot lock them in vaults but do not take any unnecessary risks with them. I hope this item is returned soon to the rightful owner with appropriate prosecution to the perpetrator.

Some pretty nasty allegations towards azmighty, If it were true I could see why you posted what you did, but the fact is theres no proof of what you are saying about him. I do find it interesting that AZ portrayed himself as the owner of the stolen
buck in his post. Thieves and the gift of the silver tongue usually go hand in hand. "just sayin"

Oh Ya its already on face book.

I appreciate that everyone is willing to keep their eyes open for my buck. I'm still holding out hope that it shows up at a garage sale somewhere or on KSL.

As far as the velvet is concerned- I shot this buck on this years bow hunt. When he was shot, the velvet was in absolutely perfect condition. However, the packout involved a couple miles of brushbusting through oak brush. Some of the velvet was damaged along the way. Also, I have looked at a lot of velvet mounts that dry and shrivel years down the road. Because I wanted this mount to look good for years to come, I decided that we'd remove the real velvet and replace it with artificial velvet.
I've seen a lot of artificial velvet that looks fake, but I've also seen some that would replicate my bucks original look. I hadn't yet decided on a particular taxidermist for the artificial velvet, because I wanted to take my time to find someone that would do an excellent job on it. I hope that answers the questions about why the velvet was stripped off.

Here's a couple more pics of the rack on the packout.

thanks again for keeping your eyes open.
