I would like to take my aging father on one more out of state hunt and through research am thinking on Colorado since we have been unable to draw the zone my father loves in Idaho since 1991. Just would like to get him into a quality hunt with decent numbers of deer. He certainly can''t hunt like he used to but still get around decent. I respect many of the members opinions on these boards and was wondering if anyone has suggestion. No honey holes or not asking for a trophy spot but just want to treat the old man as he had me so many times as a kid. We did a general hunt in Utah few years ago. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-12 AT 09:40PM (MST)[p]Do you have points? If not a good hunt maybe hard to find. However for some money you can get a landowners tag. There are many units that are good but will need 2-3 points as a nonresident to really get started.

There are some potential units too look at with better than 50-50 odds on first choice. unit 3, 3rd season or 42 2nd season, etc. The good units I like are all taking a few more points. UNit 12 2nd season, unit 11 3rd season, etc. The better place to start is what sort of hunt are you looking for... Can you pack? Need to stay around roads? etc.

You can always pay for land owner vouchers and go from there... They cost but if your willing to pay you can get good units with no points, or waits etc.
