Rut Attack

They said it was in the Pike NF and their home is along the boundary of the forest where they shot the bigger buck. It was the peak of the rut and there were a bunch of does in the area that wek and the smaller buck was after one of them when he came by and smelled, then saw the bigger buck on the ground and attacked. They say it is not a pet deer. Even crazier was the adjacent video where a small whitelatil buck tries to mate with a girl and chases her all over the place!
Where they live it is likely one of the sub-division areas up there at the base of Pikes Peak. Lot of 40 acre and smaller sections, deer get accustomed to people combine that humanization with the rut and that is the result...
When I lived on the USAFA, the neighbor lady kept trying to pet the deer. I told her that was a dumb idea but she didn't listen. Too bad she didn't learn a lesson. They are "wild" deer but so used to people you could easily get within 10' of them.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Me and my dad had a big 4?4 walk up to our camp on the kaibab while we wer skinning another 4?4 and watch us. It wasnt even ruttin season. Was in early sept during archery.
He was just trying to wake up the big buck.
Had 2 buddies draw the Manti Early Bull. We had 2 bulls tearing it up 1 was a 360 and the other a 350. The guys flipped a coin and winner shot the 360. After the shot the big bull hit the dirt. That other bull kept poking holes in the dead bull. Hiking down to the kill site 10 minutes later we get there and the bull is still trashing the dead bull. Realizing how big the second bull was the other hunter shot the second bull.

My guess is that little dude had had his but kicked all rut & he was just getting a little "pay back"!
Pretty cool to get it on video.
Had 2 young bulls watch us field dress & butcher my sons bull on the archery hunt this year here in AZ. They just kept circling & running off then coming back! Funny thing was my son kept telling me to go after em, (I had a tag too!)& all I could think of was the work we had ahead of us just getting his bull out to the truck. Never occured to me to get the camera back out & snap a few pictures!

As cool as this video was it could have gone bad incredibly quick. Have you ever seen the show when animals attack? Well this is how it happens! All it takes is a rut crazed wild animal and a dumb azz with a camera getting too close. He was lucky he didn't get gored.

I was thinking that myself. I was also thinking that a rifle shot wouldn't faze the buck, not to mention that it would be a little unsafe. It was cool to watch, though.
