I want to take my dad (hes 59 b but can get around really good) on mule deer hunt where he could have an opportunity at a 170+ buck. He doesnt believe in building points and I don't have enough in other states to get him a decent tag. So I'm looking at buying a landowner tag or doing a outfitted type hunt but I don't want it to be guided. Anyone have any suggestions or been hunt hunts they would recommend? Areas? PM's welcomed. thanks for you help. Oh my budget is $2500

I agree with colorado. There are several land owner services like the Huntin Fool that can help you to pick an area and secure a land owner tag.

There are some pretty good units that only take 2-3 points to draw, you can just build points for your Dad and save yourself a lot of $.

If I charge you 2500 for my fee that leaves you zero money to buy the voucher. There are a lot of units in colorado where you can kill a 170+ buck and it doesn't have to be the best units. Hunt hard and hope to get lucky.

Jbloom,
Might be worth the $40 investment to buy the back issues for sale right now on MM classified ads forum.
Would give you lots of "top units" to look at and then compare landowner voucher costs in those units.
Just a thought.
