great job! Not sure if you posted the story about your trophies, but would love to hear a little more about them. Maybe write something up when you are sitting in your ice tent waiting for a bite!

The elk was shot in Idaho on a over the counter tag. I have hunted this place 3 times and have had sucess 2 out of the 3. A buddie and I packed in with horses about 4 to 5 miles for a 10 day hunt. I took a friend this year that has not been in the area before. The first morning was unbelievable. We had bulls going everywhere. I had a 300" 6x6 at 25 yards but couldn't get a good shot. 30 minutes later my buddy shot and missed a nice bull. We regrouped and told our stories "Excuses". Just over the hill in the next canyon we could hear some bugles. In the past years of hunting this area we have had very little sucess of calling in good bulls. We have had better luck getting them fired up from a distance and moving in on their bugles. So we get to the next canyon and can hear 3 bulls that already had each other fired up. I called my buddie on the radio and we each choose a bull to go after. I covered some ground quick to get close to my bull not knowing if they would quickly go silent. I was able to sneak within 22 yards of him for 20 minutes before I finally got a good shot. He dropped soon as my arrow hit him. 1st morning of a 10 day hunt bull down I was excited to say the least. I had another bull closing in on the one I shot as he was dying. Now the work starts. All I can say is thank god we had horses.
I helped my buddie for the rest of the hunt and we will say he had plenty of opportunities to harvest a bull. I got some footage of a few misses that I like to keep reminding him about.

The deer was taken in utah during the extended archery season. The deer were rutting and this buck was running the same area every day. I changed my plan on him a few different times and he pulled the slip on me every time. I spotted him in the afternoon walking around checking does. I seen him 300 yards away across a draw checking 4 does. He wasnt intrested in any of them four and got on a trail and started my way. I knew that I wasnt far from the trail he was on so I put myself in a position to get a shot. He came around some scrub oak at 15 yards. I made a good shot and he ran about 60 yards and stopped just long enough to put another one in the goods. Thanks to my friends for helping me pack him out.
It was a great year with some awesome memories. Thats what its all about.

thanks so much for sharing. That is pretty amazing to get that close to so many bulls. To bad your buddy couldn't seal the deal. Great job this year! Hope you have an awesome year next year as well. maybe take your buddy out shooting before you go:) or give him some zanex in the morning before the hunt so he doesn't get so excited. ha

Good to hear some positive stories on here instead of all the bashing each other. You definately had a great year! I thought I had a great year just seeing the bucks and bulls I saw during the hunts......You did well! Thanks for sharing the pics and stories.

Awesome, thanks for sharing
