I found this buck last year a week before the archery hunt but decided to look for a different buck instead. After not being able to connect on the other buck and loosing track of it. I went looking for this buck again on the rifle hunt but never could locate it again.
Here's a couple pictures off of video I took and a video clip of the buck. What do yo guys think this buck would score? I was thinking around 180".

Hree's some video of it:

I would guess low 170's at best no eye guards backs not real deep and only decent fronts.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-01-13 AT 05:22PM (MST)[p]I've got a set of sheds very similar, they go 174.
Just looked at the sheds, changed my mind. I'll go mid 160's.

Put an arrow through him next year. Then you can tell us

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

Cool captures. He's a good looking buck, but I think he's a ways from 180". I would guess him in the low to mid 160's.

He'll score 164" But this year I'd say he'll go 180" Even without seeing him, I just know... :D

Koby,
I have never been much at scoring deer, and I think B&C numbers are pretty irrelevant anyway. One thing is for sure. You must be seeing some great bucks to pass archery on this one! Hopefully you and the buck will have good winters and you will meet again.

Thanks for the responses guys. One thing I have noticed, is most bucks look smaller on video and in still shots than they do in person. My 180" remark was kind of a teaser. I really think this buck fall somewhere in the mid-170" range. I would be willing to bet a Ben Franklin that this buck is closer to 175" than 165". Here's a picture of a buck that my cousin shot on the rifle hunt. It was 24" wide and had 12" G-4s.

This buck was with the buck pictured above the day I video'd it. The 3 point was soooo much smaller compared to the buck above, I didn't even bother video taping it at all. I wish I would have in hind sight now, for my cousins sake.

Here are my estamates on scoring this buck.
Inside spread: 20"
mass: 35"
G-1s: 2"
G-2s: 36"
G-3s: 14"
G-4s: 22"
Mains: 46"
Total: 175

Rick, I don't really care all that much about score either(it's more about the "WOW" factor) but I would like to get at least one 180"+ and 30" wide buck before my hunting days are over. I actually passed on a 30" wide 3x5 on the opening day of the rifle in hopes of seeing this buck again. He really had the "WOW" factor when I saw him that day in Aug. Yes, that "other" buck I went after had a lot more "WOW" factor to him.

Koby, I have to agree that he is solidly in the 170s.
Regardless, if he has a good winter and feed next Spring, I am confident he will meet all your expectations should your paths cross again!
Good luck my friend!

Rick, I sure hope I can find a few of those bucks again. I went back and watched your Colorado buck video. I would have thought it was a low to mid 180" buck, if I didn't know any better. I would have never guessed close to 200". Until I saw the field photos of him on the ground. Then he looked huge.

My guess on the dead buck posted Based on a 24" outside spread

LG1- 2 RG1- 0
LG2- 14 RG2- 13
LG3- 0 RG3- 0
LG4- 12 RG4- 10
LM - 21 RM - 20

Mass- 30"
Spread- 20"
Extra- 2"

Giving a total of 144"

The dead 3-point has better fronts than the 4-point in the video frame. But even if you give the 4-point the same front scores, and add in 8" G3's... Its still only a 160" buck...

Mostly, I'm basing my guess off of my 172" buck with a 27" spread on my wall... I will post a pic because my bucks forks are better than the buck in the video, and he is wider, and he only goes 172"...

Still, if you are passing bucks like that up in any season, you must have a lot of better bucks to hunt. I can't say the same. The buck in the vid would be dead if he walked by me...

BrowningRage, where are your pictures?
There are 170"+ class bucks on every mountain range in Utah. I'm not hunting any place special.
