Good Ole Days Monster Help

I'm a first timer to post on the MM forum. I have for several years enjoyed all the photos and photo tours on this site, I always seem to catch "the fever". I'm posting this in hopes that someone out there can help me out. In 1965 my grandfather (who passed away about four years ago from Lukemia) shot a monster of a buck. It was a 10x11 and had a spread of 44". That year it won Ziniks big buck contest and was displayed at their store. Since then, as many of you are probably aware Ziniks went out of business and the deer disappeared, probably into someone's private collection. My hope is to locate the deer and somehow get it back for my father. The buck was entered into Ziniks under the name K.H. Brinkerhoff. The buck was taken around the porcupine area. I've added the only photo we have of the buck with my grandfather. Any help I can get would be much appreciated.

Thanks

dear asphalthunter, i have enjoyed this forum for several years now but your story has inspired me to create a user name to write you back. in 1961 my grandfather, frank ashton killed a deer in provo canyon. it also won the zenik's contest that year and was the biggest deer ever entered in the history of the contest. it was the biggest non-typical in the state at the time. it measured 44 5/8 wide and over all score was 286 5/8. there's a cast set on display at the cabelas store in lehi. like yours this head stayed on display at zenik's, and was reported stolen when they went out of business. over ten years later a wildlife artist stopped at a gas station in salt lake and saw the horns hanging inside. he recognized them and called don schauffler, a notorious antler buyer from enice montana. don went to the gas station, walked inside and told the clerk those are stolen antlers. without any questions the clerk said to take them. don called my grandpa and the horns were returned after all those years. don has dealt with many many many trophy mule deer. its a long shot but maybe you could get in touch with him and he might recognize seeing them somewhere. i hope this helps with your search.....

Great looking buck, hope you find them.
