Wyoming Region G Recommendations?

So despite all of the doom and gloom news by Eastmans and others about how bad the herd is doing in western Wyoming I have 3 pts and plan on hunting up there this fall. This will be my first time having a tag for Wyoming deer. I have scouted a few areas with a friend years ago and found some great bucks before the season started in 143 but they were in areas fairly close to roads (within 3 miles). When my buddy came back to hunt they were nowhere to be found and the hunting pressure was rediculous! Only turned up small 22-24 inchers. If anyone has any recommendations as to some good areas with good deer densities that are remote enough to get away from the majority of other hunters I would love to hear it. I will be backpacking and I am not opposed to 7-9 miles. Not looking for any special spots just general drainages that hold good some mature deer. Based on maps it looks like the Greys 144 has some of the most remote areas? Thanks in advance for your generous info.

Theodore Roosevelt's guidance concerning
conservation...
"The movement for the conservation of wildlife,
and the conservation of all our natural resources,
are essentially democratic in spirit, purpose and
method."

"We do not intend that our natural resources shall
be exploited by the few against the interests of the
majority. Our aim is to preserve our natural
resources for the public as a whole, for the
average man and the average woman who make
up the body of the American people."

"It is in our power...to preserve game..and to give
reasonable opportunities for the exercise of the
skill of the hunter, whether he is or is not a man of
means."

I've hunted the Greys half a dozen times in my life and I'm here to tell you that you cannot get away from hunters!!!! Its simply not possible, I've worked my a** off many years to get where no one else could get and someone is ALWAYS in the same area. I still love hunting it however and will continue to do so for as long as I physically can.

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Pretty sure your scouted bucks were probably still around. When the pressure hits, those older bucks hit the heavier cover and go nocturnal-especially after they have rubbed the velvet off.

Hunt the last week is good advice.

As stated above, hunt toward the end of the hunt. If not, seek out the hellholes were horses can't, and sane men generally won't, go. It doesn't have to be a large area. As long as people won't intrude, a buck might have a safe haven of only a couple of acres if there is cover and feed. Glassing won't find these bucks.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. I have had that work on other hunts as the deer calm down and go back to their routines after the crowds leave. It is nice that the lower area opens later if we can't get it done in September. I have not been in that lower southern unit before but the same would apply. Get in and figure out where the deer are on the mountain during that time of year.
