13 COLORADO POINTS

Hi everyone,

I have been in the Navy for 25 years and am ready to use the 13 preference points I've accumulated. I know there is no guarantee with any hunt (high fence game ranches don't count) just trying to to have the best opportunity and willing to hunt hard to try and get that once in a lifetime buck. I'm looking for any and all information/advice on units, access areas, etc. I don't have a hard time even asking if any of you know where a monster or 2 are and figure might as well let someone try and get them because they'll die of old age before you get enough points to draw in the area ---- and if you'd like to go on the hunt with me it would be a great time I'm sure. I've had friends draw those special tags like for goats and sheep and I went along and it was awesome just to be part of it. Thanks to everyone.

You likely won't get a hand tied buck 200" buck given to you. Better off figuring out what sort of hunt you want and then asking what unit is better between "X" and "Y" or even what season is better... Just coming out and saying can you take me to a big buck so I don't have to hunt probably not going to get you any responses unless you have 10k wearing a hole in your pocket.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-29-13 AT 01:14PM (MST)[p]Undertaking a Mule Deer Hunt is much more than simply accumulating some preference points. In fact, the application process and PP status is one of the last things I consider when planning a Colorado hunt, especially for deer.

Of first importance would be:

-guided or diy?

-spending budget?

-mountains or plains?

-bow or rifle or muzz?

-tolerant of crowds or prefer isolation?

-residence location?

-trophy expectations?

With that info, guys could probably start to give you some useful suggestions.

If I had those points I would look at 3 options:

Early rifle, high country buck

3rd season, units 61, 66, 67

4th season in a variety of units.

Better hurry!

Yeah let the two guys that first posts were both asking when and where to hunt help each other.

Jarhead --- i know it's the final hour before applications are do but if you can, shoot me an email at [email protected] and give me your number. I'm originally from Colorado and live here so I'm a resident, and I'm sure we can help each other out with these deer.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-02-13 AT 05:40PM (MST)[p]I think you mean "INFO"MAN can help you out!

Better pray the computers don't get overloaded and shut you out tonight! Had a friend that had that happen when he waited until the last day a couple of years ago. Here is an interesting read on that subject:
