Re: Rule R657-66 Military Installations New Rule
The purpose of this rule is to allow the division to enter memorandum of understanding (MOU) with
military installation units for the purpose of hunting big game. These agreements will open access to
new hunting areas for qualified military personnel and the general public.
The military installation base commander will provide the division with a plan to allow hunting access
including how many permits they are requesting, and how they plan to distribute them fairly and
equitably to military personnel. When satisfied with the plan, the division will sign the MOU. One
permit or 20% of the total requested for military personnel will be made available to the general public
through the division?s annual bucks and bulls online draw process.

Hill AFB has allowed limited archery deer hunting for years. I guess this means there will be a draw tag? There are always big bucks on camp Williams but with the potential of live artillery on the ground I bet this is not open to hunting!

some people just hafta #####.

I think a 50 50 split would be fair, the deer belong to all of the taxpayers, so does the ground,,,,

So going by your thinking we should alot 50% of tags to non residents? They pay taxes too?

I dont see a problem giving the majority of the tags to the military personnel. Maybe a 70/30 or close to that, but for hell sakes, they defend our freedom and our country, lets give at least a little bit back to them. Especially since the D_BAG Obama is taking away more of their pay and giving more to the DIP SHI!S in office. If people dont think its fair they get more tags, then join the military!

I never served since I just missed the tail end of NAM but I think that anything we can do for our armed forces is a good thing. 80/20 split seems fair to me.
I'd like to be one of the 20%, during the first few years, to hunt Camp Williams! I'd be dreaming of big bucks until I made it happen.
It will open up some new country.

One tag or 20% is better then now - nothing. Hopefully they would have very limited tags anyways. It's like antelope island, if it is limited it could be a great tag, if they issue a dozen tags a year it will only be good for the first year and then it would only be a good hunt to avoid the crowds after that.

This would spread the point hunters out alittle more.

Hope it gets past and best of luck to all the military hunters and a random one or two others. Thanks for all your service!!!

It is amazing to me that Utah Sportsman are going from zero/zilch/nada to one permit or 20% and yet some of you want more. SFW has you trained well. Come to think of it, maybe we could give the military guys one tag or 20%, the public one tag or 20%, and send the rest to SFW to manage for us.

I can see how the dwr and sfw get what they want most of the time, most of you don't even know when your getting played. you can bet yur azz if this gets passed , their will be a tag for sale,,,,,,i just thought just once/ maybe the gen public should get a fair shake' (pruney you can kiss my //////

+1 Robiland! Personally I think we should stay off it and let military personel hunt it exclusively. Why not?

It's always an adventure!!!

Does anyone know what areas this applies to? Camp Williams was mentioned, any evidence of this? Any other installations potentially involved? (Of course I ask since I am in the military)
