Been to Colorado 6 years running and am shifting gears to Idaho this year. Any pointers or areas we HAVE to check out?
Im way down in Central Texas so its a trip, but I know we can get it done.

I know itll be a lot tougher hunt, but with a 6 month old and a second baby on the way, I cant make my self spend the money on a voucher, and we didnt get drawn.

Get yourself a MT deer tag. I'd rather hunt MT then ID on a general tag. Plus you can hunt the rut in MT.

"Go hunt for meat at Walmart."

PMs replied. Thanks guys. Im looking into the MT tags but 76 is probably where we will be this year.

Hi mikegordon. May I ask why you are focused on 76? Thanks and best of luck to you. 5

Im mostly focused on 76 because of several things. I can hunt it cheaper than anything else Ive found, and I have a good friend that hunted it for years in the 90's. I know its not the same caliber hunt it was then, but he knows the country, and thats a big plus for an out of towner that cant get in a scouting trip. Im not opposed to other areas, I just dont know where to start. Seems picking an area to go hunt is harder than getting a tag.

I've also hunted it since the early 90's, and I bought a tag last year as well after not having one for about 4 years. Honestly it was not a good decision for deer quality, in 7 days of hunting the back country we saw one 4x4 that might have pushed 160" if we stretched the tape. It is awesome and great country, just really suffering in terms of quality and quantity of deer right now.

Good luck on your hunt. I am always in the camp of go hunt if you can, so go hunt it!! (and report back so i know whether or not to buy a tag again next year haha)..
