Muley confusion!

alright guys im gonna paint you alil picture of the landscape: there is a creek and it runs through a canyon and comes out of the canyon into a flat and goes threw a wildlife refuge. across the road from the refuge I can hunt em and in the canyon also....there are a few 160 class bucks that go to the refuge early in the morning and at night they go in the canyon.... I have benn watchin them since may...now its 9 days till archery season opens and I plan on killin a big buck this year but the thing is they have either gone nocturnal or are hiding due to hunting season in a week....so any advice for what to do...I plan on catching em in transition from the canyon to the refuge.

They looked at the calendar and saw they are about ready to shed and have probably either stayed in the refuge or have gone nocturnal like you stated. If it's either of those scenarios, you're probably screwed.
