Anybody kill a buck on Vernon yet? I have a muzzy tag and just wanted to see what has been killed so far.

I didn't fill my tag but had opportunities. Here is a buck that I had at 15 yards before he spooked and didn't give me a chance at his vitals. We seen over 100 different bucks in a week. Mostly 22-24" bucks, but 4 that were big 4 points and 4x5's. mostly 150-160 class and the 4 big ones would be 175-190 class.

You will find a lot of bucks this year. Be patient for the one you want.

Cokeman,

Are you done hunting? If your going back out let me know, I will help you out any way I can. I'm going up a week before my hunt starts and would be happy to help you out any way I could. I haven't seen anything much better than your pic but have only been out twice due to the passing of my dad. A week of scouting should change that. Call if I can help 801-232-0617.

Not sure if I am going back yet. There is a big 4x5 that I missed opening morning and kept hunting him most of the week until I found that heavy buck in the previous post.

Here is a buck that I past on everyday from 20-50 yards.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-03-13 AT 09:08AM (MST)[p]Ringneks, I also have a muzz tag. I know of at least one great buck that was taken out there. I believe the hunters name is Reco Sanderson and his father gave me permission to share the picture. I know these guys were after the buck that I've been watching but weren't able to get him. I think they did even better getting this one. The bad news is I think there were others chasing the buck i've been hoping for as well. I don't know if he's dead, run out of the country, or just hiding but I wasn't able to find him this past weekend.

This picture doesn't even come close do doing this buck justice or showing off what he really has. I know some that had been watching him were calling him the hooker buck because of the big hooked cheater that he has. You can't see that in this picture unfortunatly but it's the only one I have.

Haha, The....."I just killed a big buck" stare down :)

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Truelife, thanks for sharing that is a nice buck. Were you out there last Friday morning? Good luck too you, hope you find the one your looking for.

Truelife, I saw and talked briefly with the hunter in this pic on a scouting trip a few weeks ago. He was with his dad ( or coulda been his grandfather). Good to see the scouting paid off for them. I have a vernon muzzy tag as well and am looking for any help and advice you 'd be willing to share. Thanks

Ringnecks, I was out there Saturday this past week but not Friday. I drive a blue 4 door dodge with a very noisy atv trailer. Stop in and chat if you see us. Not sure where I'll be at this point as my dream but is AWOL as of right now. I'll be heading out on the 23rd.

By the way guys, the hunt starts on my 20th wedding anniversary so is I that's good luck....... Or bad ????

swamp buck, my suggestion would be to cover a lot of ground, find a buck you like and then go get him. I've made a whole bunch of trips out there this year and finally found a couple of deer I wanted to try to keep track of. I kept track of the biggest one for about a week. I know of others that watched the same buck about five miles away. They just do a lot of traveling out there on the desert.

Good luck to all you muzzy hunters, it's almost here and it's getting really hard to sit at work each day.

Great looking Buck, Hope you guys find a few more like him.
