I am trying to get some info about where i can find some bucks for the 17a general rifle hunt. If it gets to the point i would be willing to pay someone for helping. I am talking like paying 20-30 dollars a point on a deer. My goal is no less than a three point. but once we establish communication and maybe go out and scout and then we can do a contract or something of the sorts.

It is against the law to compensate someone for what you have proposed unless he be a licensed guide.

That unit is full of public national forest. I doubt you'll need any help finding a good buck.

Any info would be great where i could find some bucks. What are the stipulations about compensating someone. Does it matter if it is on private property. Where could i find about the law about licensed guide.

Or you could just go do some scouting. Find an area. DIY

Having hunted this unit no less than ten times I can tell you that big deer are hard to find even when you know the unit well, and I have not hunted there in probably ten years.

I wouldn't say I know the unit extremely well but have hunted almost every different part of public land there including Camp Wood area, Juniper Mesa Wilderness, checkerboard up north, Hyde Mountain, Goat Mtn, Apache Wilderness (I think this name is right) and many others. That being said, the biggest buck I ever killed was a 20" 3 point. I never even saw a buck that I would consider a monster. I don't hunt there anymore for a reason.

Buy some gas for the truck and head up to any one of the general areas mentioned and you should find some deer. Free advice, paying me would be illegal and consider hiring a guide.

PS,you're talking about 17A, AZ right?

i was doing some scouting in the wallburg area but the area that i was looking at was sold. So i am looking for pointers for some areas. thanks

LMAO...again....only utards are unaware that there is a world outside Utah.

I think the peaks are still public in that unit...

I am just saying that there is a ton of public property on the unit. And there are big bucks taken off the unit every year. I do not know about guides as I have never looked into them. And I have never looked into private property. I would just start scouting. Anywhere you can get a few miles from the road I think you stand a good chance of finding a buck.

The hard task your faced with is people are not going to give you areas to hunt very easily.

Good luck, hope you can find a good one. Let us know how you do.

Holy crap you are joking right??? This seems to much like a joke to be real... If you are not joking and are for reals. Drive up to Spanish Fork canyon or Hobble Creek and pick a mountain and start hiking. If I had that tag I am kinda sure I would have been out scouting months ago. Good luck and put some miles on your boots and start glassing I bet you can find something out there not on private land that has a rack...
