Henry Mountains - Management Hunt

Just got off the phone with the DWR and I was the first alternate on the list for this tag......and I took it!

I have never been to the Henry's and with 3 days before the hunt left, no time to scout, I am in a tight spot. Me and my 11 year old will have 2-3 days next week to hunt.

Is there anyone who lives around Hanksville (or anyone else) that could give a little help?

Thanks for your time!

You may want to call High Top Outfitters in Richfield. They know the unit well. Maybe they could work out a deal on their pricing for ya because of the circumstance.

+1 on HTO, they are awesome! I hunted the Henries with them for my bison and a cougar, and they were very familiar with the area and we had a great time!

Was there for muzzy hunt this year. Lots of big management bucks. Stick with Brettly30's advice and you will do good. Good luck.

Thanks for the information, we had a great hunt.

We saw a lot of big bucks. Each day we saw multiple big bucks that would have been great to take.

With such short notice from the DWR, we were not able to go down until Tuesday. A fair amount of the hunters were gone by then with their bucks. We were 10 minutes behind a young hunter that took a great 5x3 that was 32" wide around "the Horn." Spent time in Nasty Flats....by the way, it was full of deer!

In 3 days of hunting we never saw a large, mature management buck. We saw a few small 3 pointers but nothing big.

We ended up coming home with memories and pictures of big bucks that made it all worth it.

I appreciate the help that was given, it sure helped.

That's some hefty tag soup right there...

Glad you feel the memories were worth it. That's a great outlook.
