First muley

I've been an upland game and waterfowl hunter for most of my life growing up in Nebraska. I separated form the Navy and moved to where my in laws lived in central Utah and decided to take a mule deer (first time for big game). I was lucky enough to snag me a decent buck that was the biggest that I came across (saw two small forks this one was a 3x2 and a bit over 200lbs). I'm pretty darn happy with it! However, online I see all the "first buck" posts of deer that would put mine to shame. I scouted quite a bit but I'm thinking that public land in central Utah just doesn't hold the type of deer that you can write home about.... And yeah, that's blaze orange over a flight deck jersey I'll wear 'em till they're threadbare.

Yeah there are a few great "first" buck pics on here but realize that there was what 10 bucks posted this year that fit that category and how many "first" bucks were actually shot out west? 2000, 3000 ???? it is a very SMALL percentage of first bucks that are BIG. You did great, and as you gain experience, confidence you will shoot bigger bucks and consistently... IF you work hard.

Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!

First off, thank you for your service and congrats on getting your first mule deer on the dirt! In the end it's not always about the size of the rack or score it's about the memories made and that is a memory you won't soon forget!
