Suggestions:

It seems that many are driven to post up their hard work and success in other forums in order to get recognition and a "pat on the back" by other members of the forum. Maybe you could allow commenting on the HAC, so that posters who take the time to write up their year step by step, and include pics along the way, will get a "pat on the back" from their buds on the forum. That would be a motivator in my eyes.

Another suggestion is to do a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize at the end of the year for the best HAC threads, (it is possible that this is already being done and I have not heard about it). If that is the case maybe advertise more about the prize.

Those are my thoughts.

You just gave away $1000 bucks in the the photo contest. A couple hundred for the HAC would go along way. The first year there was some significant prizes up for grabs, that was also the most popular year and best content year. There's a reason all the mags offer up swag for contributors. Alot of time goes into HAC writing, editing video/photos, uploading, etc. Just being honest...and selfish..I'd play if there was a chance of taking home a pack, pair of binos, $100 gift card or something.

I have done the HAC since the first year. I liked when Founder had the view counter on the page that allowed for people to see which post were the most popular. Also, the contestants need to post smaller pictures so they load faster when other people try to view their post. Maybe limit it to 25 post in a single thread rather than doing multiple threads when they get to big. Just my thoughts. I am looking forward to this year because I should draw some good hunts.

The appeal of these forums owes mostly to the social and interactive aspect. I rarely glance at the HAC once I realized only the author can post. If I only wanted to read printed hunting stories, I already get a bunch of magazines loaded with those.

These forums and all others like them, are all about getting to know people and communicating back-and-forth with them about our shared interests.

I participated in the 2011 and 2012 H.A.C and I really enjoyed it. I did not do the 2013 H.A.C because of lack of time and tags. I think most of us are forgetting the main purpose (or my main purpose) for doing the H.A.C. So that we can look back years from now relive that hunting year through it. Of corse there will be a lot more participation with better prizes but I plan to participate this year.

I participated in the HAC this year. It was a lot of fun, but indeed a lot of work.

As far as suggestions, I think prizes is always a good incentive. State what they are at the beginning, that way people know what they are working towards.

Having a good tag in my pocket was a big motivator to try and document my year. I think many start the HAC's for the same reason, but quickly stop because it does take a lot of effort. I think good prizes up for grabs would help entice people to finish what they started.
