I'm heading into the high country of these units for archery mule deer, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions about good areas. Anyone hunted these units with any luck?

Hunt early and hunt high. That said, I have seen some booners down low along the river on private ground in early September. They don't leave until the rut hits. Good luck

Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm looking at hunting around mt Rhoda up above silverton. I was also looking just south of mt eulos in the mesas above missionary ridge. Do u know much about these areas?

It may be a good sign that your not getting much activity on your thread. This could be a sleeper area that either not many know much about it or they dont want to share.

Tough unit for locating a mature buck, I've hunted it early before, with a some serious work, it can be done, lots of recreational activity above timberline during the summer months, which is a problem in most units, seems to drive the deer out of the high country basins and into the timber. If you're considering, you have to think outside the box, lots of high county that is way back in there, if you have the gut to do it you could have a good hunt.
