I drew my first September archery mule deer hunt. I am just trolling for some tips for this hunt. It is September 1-22 in unit 2B. I have helped with hunts in the same unit during the January season. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Glass one up... quietly sneak in close...let fly with the pointed end...LOL
2b is not what it used to be... try posting on the NM board... GL

That's about all I had planned to do. I know 2B isn't what it was. I think there are too many does and people in the area shoot all the small deer and never give them a chance to grow. But anyways that's my rant, but I know the area very well and I have some secret locations that the road hunters can't get to so we will see what happens.

Drop... couldn't resist the sarcasm because its your first post.
Nothing personal. But I hunted 2b 4 times in the 1990s... took horses the first two years and figured the unit out... then no need for the hay burners... killed 3 outa 4 years. But it is different now. I would look for out of the way places with little ROAD access GL on that.
And in Sept. you will be hunting resident deer... the CO bucks don't come in until Nov.

Cosmic: I am planning on hunting up on top of Ice Canyon area. I know in that area there are big residents bucks. I have pictures of them from my trail cams. The trick up there is it is wide open.

Gator: Around Rosa Road is not bad for later season. Most of the big bucks are Colorado deer.

>ice canyon is in 2C

The boarder of 2C and 2B is actually Largo Canyon Wash. Once you are on top of the Ice Canyon it switches to 2B.

Any one ever hunted deer in Unit 20 which is whitesands missile range?? I drew archery tag for sept 1-24 and Jan 1-15. Any advice on this hunt would be awesome.
