That is a big, heavy buck with extras. However, his forks are not very deep and he has no eye guards, which will hurt his score. I am guessing 180". Who cares what he scores. I would be thrilled to take that buck.

Bowtech Destroyer
Winchester Apex .50 Cal

Wild guess of 177-1/8"

The hunters bald head causes a glare to be correct on measurement...LOL

I think he might make to the 180's with the extras but he's a better buck than his score would indicate, no matter what he scores. Smoker Buck!!!

Makes him extra wide with the kickers. great mass. weak tine length on the front. very nice buck. 179 5/8

Either you guys and I have been hanging around too long or we are all pretty smart. I thought 178 when I saw the pics. But he's a shooter in almost everyone's book. Mass is what matters. Congrats on a studly buck.

Good guesses so far! Hate to leave you hanging, but really enjoying your comments.
I will share a bit of the story with you...
This is one of my dads best friends and he has been hunting with my dad for the last 30 years. I have been having him, my dad (see photo's posted on "fathers day contest"--by Rando), and my brother build points for the last two years with the idea that we would go to a unit that I have been going to every year (with landowner voucher occasionally) since 2002. My group of pals have always gone 3rd season, and I thought I would try 2nd season with this crew.
At the last minute another one of my good buddies(Todd) who has been going since '02 also, decided to join us as he has grown up with me hunting under my dads tutoring...and the two of us spending a lot of time helping my dad tutor my younger brother. Todd just couldn't imagine my brother making an out of state hunting trip without him there to enjoy it to and my dad is like a second dad to him. Todd and I gave up our NV unit 17 mule deer tags to make this work and Todd bought an OTC bull tag.
My dad had warned me that his buddy would probably shoot the first buck he sees (big or small) as he really enjoys helping out everyone else...so when I heard his five shots ring out around 8am on opening morning I made the assumption that he shot a small buck. He confirmed it with me when he told me on the radio to take my time and finish my hunt "cuz he killed a small one".
An hour and a half later I showed up in his canyon and the celebration began!
He was truly one of the most excited hunters I have ever seen. I believe he has one buck that scores better, but this one was his first 30+"er and it was a special buck on a special hunt!
Three hours later we had the buck caped out and pack framed to the truck with the help of my 72 year old dad. Todd and my brother were several miles away in a separate canyon where Todd was focusing on finding my brother a shooter buck...
We were supposed to have a radio check in at 11, and when they never heard from us they knew something was up.
"Unfortunately", at 12:15, a trophy bull (for OTC, Public land) showed himself across the canyon from Todd and he hammered him! I say "unfortunately" because pack #2 of the day (and caping in the field) began around 1:30 and wasn't complete until 7 that night! Thank goodness my 29 year old brother was there for 3 pack trips out before we all made the 4th and final trip together.

The bull scored 328 and the buck scored....
I will check back in tomorrow and give you the bucks score!
Looking forward to hearing a few more guesses as no one has nailed it yet.
Thanks for letting me share the pics and the story!

Fantastic deer, for sure. Score will not reflect the trophy that buck is.

I come up with 172 MAX. I'll make an official guess of 167 3/8

I just did a guestimation with a B&C score sheet and I came up with 154 4/8 - I am going to say that I was way too conservative on my measurments though and boost him up a little because he looks bigger, but not much. I will say 162 7/8.

Final answer.

Doesn't matter though because he is a great buck and there is no way I would pass him on any general hunt. Awesome story - post some pics of that bull too! Not too often when you can take a trophy buck and bull on the same hunt (and yes 328 is a trophy bull for most people! They sure look pretty on a wall at that size!)

HOOK 'EM!

My measurements put him @ 176 but my initial gut said 183 so that's what I'm going with.

Cool buck - great mass! I'll say 186 1/8

Thanks for all of your guesses!!

This buck green scored 168 5/8.

He was one of the most deceiving bucks I have ever scored! The hunter could have cared less about score. Score meant absolutely NOTHING to him. He killed a TROPHY and he knew it. Crazy thing was as we were packing him out we came across a "local fellow" who randomly said, "oh that buck will easily go over the magic 200" mark"...and that did get MY hopes up that his score was better than it was. Really, all the hunter cared about was that the buck was 31 7/8" wide (outside spread)and that was wider than anything "the old man" (kilowatt referred to)-my dad- had ever killed. My dad killed a 30 3/8" wide buck in the 1980's and had bragging rights for a long time.
Just in case any of you don't believe how happy this hunter was with his "low scoring" trophy (and I think all of you agreed it was a definite shooter)...I have attached a few more pictures to enjoy. It was truly a pleasure to hunt with someone who enjoyed his kill, and his overall hunt so much.
He napped with his buck, drank coffee with his buck, and slept with his buck. It killed him to have to leave the buck with the taxidermist and travel home without him, or we may have been seeing a picture of that buck in the front seat of the truck...I am quite sure!
Thanks to everyone for their guesses!!

LAST EDITED ON May-28-14 AT 06:04PM (MST)[p]the small forks hurt his score, but I love MASS! You hit the nail on the head: he is a TROPHY. Or put another way: a Monster Muley

I have a 25" buck that scores 163 on the wall and there is NO comparison between the two if they were standing side by side. Score doen't get it right all the time.

Thanks for posting, I guess I was a bit off! My goal this year is for a 180 buck, but if I saw this one on opening morning I'd shoot him in a heartbeat. score on that buck doesn't do it justice.

Roy,
I will post a picture of the bull! Sorry...I missed your request.
I am kind of new at posting pictures, so each one is a challenge! Learning and getting better.
Will try to do tonight or tomorrow for sure.
Thx.
Rando

Here is the 328 1/8 bull and our "group shot" (after the taxidermy work on the two trophies). Great trip!
...trying to post one other photo of the bull, but not having any luck!
