Hey guys, headin south this coming week. Gonna be down on Boulder Mountain a bit, but my famil has decided we'd like to head over to the Paunsy for a day, if we can get there from Boulder.

From the DWR maps, it looks like we can head down on Highway 12, through Escalante and on over to Henrieville and on to Cannonville. It looks as though we can head south, southwest from Cannonville heading towards (or around) the Paunsy Plateau... This road eventually heads directly west towards Highway 89. It also appears to meet with a road that heads directly north up to Alton... Can we get up to the plateau this way..??

I'm asking for some direction my friends... We've never been there, and we just want to see some deer. Could someone please let me know where to go..?? PMs will be perfect.

I'd sure appreciate it guys. And I will be shooting video of our trip to post here...

If your down on the boulder I would head east to the henries through capital reef. Big deer there in their summer mode.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-14 AT 10:31AM (MST)[p]Keep going west on 12 past Canonville/Tropic and on past the Bryce Canyon turn off. A couple miles west of Bryce turn south on the road marked East Fork and Tropic resevior. All that country is the Pauns Plateau.

This is all great info guys. I really appreciate it a lot and I hope I will have some good footage to share with everyone when we return.

I was concerned about going from Boulder over to the Henry's because I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay to go through the park or not, same with Bryce Canyon... But I think once we are down there, we may not care about a small fee...

Glad to know there are still some guy swilling to give out some info, even if it's on LE units that I will never hunt. It's still super fun to see Big Muleys when you can. :) :)

Thanks guys, and anyone else with some direction, feel free to contribute still...

No charge to drive through Capital Reef to get to Hanksville and the Henry's, and you do not go through the pay area of Bryce on the Pauns. The Henry's is a better choice if you want to see bucks and lots of them. With the Pauns they tend to stay out of the big flats during daylight hours, to much traffic going by. I love both areas and the boulder too, but the Henry's for seeing deer would be your best bet. Where are you staying on the Boulder? I could share some short cuts to both units if you let me know what part of the Boulder you will be on.
