G'day guys,

My name is Jack, I'm from Australia, do a lot of DIY hunting here and in NZ as well as a little guiding here in Australia. Next year my brother and I are planning a DIY public hunt to WY for speed goats and a muley each.
We'll be entering the draw with one preference point and if we need a special tag (or whatever its called).
I think we've narrowed down the units for our goat hunt though still looking for some more info on that.
The mule deer though is proving to be a little harder. At the moment things are pointing towards H Region and F as our second preference.

We are just a couple of young keen hunters, not afraid to work hard and are looking for a good experience and its not necessarily about shooting monsters. Anything bigger than a spike would be going straight to the taxidermists. Having said that, we have a couple of rough goals to aim at. We'd like to take a goat around 12" and a muley each around 140".

I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to help us out with some information on some good units, particularly for muleys. As we dont need monsters, units that hold good numbers and smaller heads would be fine as we'd be looking at getting some photography and filming in too.

In return for good info I'd be happy to help out with some information on DIY hunting here and in NZ. In Aus I mainly chase red deer, fallow deer and sambar and in NZ Tahr, chamois and Sika.
This year on our DIY tahr hunt between my brother our mate and I we took 5 mature bulls in 3 days of hunting (bad weather rest of the trip) so can definitely put you into some good spots if you're willing to work a bit.

Here is a link to day one of that trip:
apologies for the bad language, kiwis are worse than aussies for it.

It's going to be a trip half way across the world and not one we can do very often so we're just wanting to give ourselves the best chance at taking a muley and goat each so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

We'd be coming in the rifle season.

Any info you give will be kept private so please feel free to contact me through my email at [email protected]

Regards,

Jack Purcell

Unit 70 for Antelope. Hunted there tons of antelope, and you can draw with low points.
