He's hard to judge in these pics. Lots of junk but looks to be narrow and lacks height. Is he just a young buck with gobs of potential to be an absolute cranker in a few years. These pics leave me wanting to see more. I know most guys see a bunch of junk and pull the pin regardless. But this might be a buck that needs to be sat on for a few years.

Not necessarily. Many bucks make in through the season to show up another year. It is a risk, but if you already have several 200 inch bucks on the wall, you probably have a desire to get something better. Founder has killed numerous Monsters, he might just be in that stage of wanting a GIANT. I can tell ya from experience, eating tag soup after passing on monsters looking for a Giant is very rewarding. Everyone is different though. I wouldn't fault him for focusing on this buck. Like I said, he has me wanting to see more. I can't tell from these pictures if he is indeed a Taker or not.

Hey elkun!

That's a PISSCUTTERT!

Well at least in BC it is!:D

cool buck, personally I'd be looking for a big clean typical. I'd rather have all those inches in a 4x4 frame :)

BC although well intended, is wrong on this one. A buck like that on public land in any western state--- you got take em when you see em.

Thanks,

Up here, I'd still like another look. It just doesn't look like a cranker too me. From these pics, he looks like a young non-typical. Lots of trash but a frame that looks small. Is he even going to break 200? More pics might be able to shed light on this. Maybe he blows past 200 but from the looks I'm seeing here, he might just be a small frame young nontypical that will gross in the 190s. If he is young like I suspect, then he has the potential to be a 240 plus buck with another year or 2 of growth. I don't have a clue where Founder is hunting this year, but if this is from one of those Landowner Tag units he has hunted in the past, it might just be something to hold in his back pocket for another year. I would love more looks at this buck, but if this buck jumped up in front of me where I hunt, I would hate to pull the pin without a long look only to see I whacked a young buck that could have been a Giant.

You gotta realize BC!

This is TARDville!

If a Guy/Gal/Hunter turns that Buck Loose!

He's as good as Dead when the next Hunter see's him!

It'd be Nice if I could Hunt BC where Bucks like this are considered PISSCUTTERS!:D

I fell sorry for any body that thinks that buck is not big enough to show off to their fellow show offs.??

BC,

He is right this buck looks young and immature, however in most western states passing on this buck could mean going home without a filled tag. Some units out here you see one maybe two legal bucks and you better take one of them when you see them on a general tag. Now on a limited entry unit I would pass, on a general tag I would not because a general tag to me is a meat tag.

I kinda agree with BC on this one he is a young buck that I figure scores 200-205, and while it would be really nice to let him walk to see what he goes next year... on all but maybe the henries unit here in utah you cant let a 200" deer walk away.

Also concider that most bucks killed on L.E. units here are only 140-170" deer (if that) I dont see the avarage hunter letting this buck walk on a L.E. unit let alone a general unit.

That being said Founder is not your average hunter.

Exactly, Founder has several monsters to his name already! I also think some are jumping to conclusions thinking that this deer is on public land in a general unit in Utah. ;)

Ya!

It's a Wyoming Buck!:D

I'm curious as to whether Founder actually took these pics or if they were shared by someone else and he posted them. This buck looks a little familiar to me, but not certain. Wondering if someone took an aerial of him and passed it along to Founder. And I'm not a conspiracy theory guy.

He's gotta be 5-6 years old. Might get better in another year, but maybe not. Maybe a lion kills him. I'd be going after him for sure.

The one thing I would suggest is that if someone does harvest this buck, or one like him is to save the incisors and have him aged. That way we'll know his age for sure. Some of those bucks just don't get that big roman nose and look real old, and this buck has a mature body. We killed a 205 deer a few years ago that was aged at 8, and he did not look old. We can't be sure of age, but a 200 incher is hard to pass.

Based upon Founder's post in his HAC thread, this is the photo of a Utah buck in the unit he will be hunting this year. That is a great buck and a definite opening day shooter. Unless you are hunting the Henry Mountains, you would be absolutely crazy to pass on this buck in any other unit in Utah.

I think Brian should go kill this buck and then we can conclusively answer the questions regarding score, age, width, etc.

Great buck, cheaters really flip my switch. I would spend the whole hunt trying to harvest that buck.

If I had my heart set on a really big buck, i'm afraid I might be disappointed with this one. He's got a lot of trash but much else.

A true trophy hunter that has taken bigger ones should pass on him.
There will be many bigger bucks taken than him in the future.

There is no shame in not killing a deer.
I think you will get more satisfaction from giving him a chance to grow older and bigger than killing him now.
