Here is the 20 inch 3X3 we got that the domestic dog had torn out a third of the hind quarter off of Seep Ridge road. Was able to share with DWR about the dog and hope they found him before he got into some more deer. Passed up a number of bigger bucks but to have my son with me and for him to help track and then pack out with his Badlands 2200 is a priceless memory.

Still dream of the 160 buck hit and we couldn't find and searching all day long. Hope some of the guys we befriended on the hunt were able to get some great bucks. I finally saw my first buck over 30 inches the morning before I got this little guy.

I hope I don't have to wait ten years to get back up there again with the bow to close the deal on one of those wall hangers. Now to play guided for both boys and help them get their antelope. What fun awaits us!

I almost got a bullet in that dog. He caught me with my pants down. Came sneaking in on me while using the bathroom. Grabbed my pistol from my side but he turned away and took off to quick.

He tore my buddy's cooler apart ate his food and tore his tent up. When we got back to camp he was still in the tent. Grabbed him by his collar and the fight was on. His collar broke and he got away.

No place for a dog like that out there. He probably won't make it through the winter though. It seems all he knows is to scavenge though camps.

He looks like the Beast on Sandlot.

Congrats! Great little buck.

I doubt there is a better unit to harvest an animal while standing alongside a child... I think that is the real reason so many guys put in for the Books. No shame in taking a decent buck with your son, whether its a 200 incher or a 20" 3x3...

Sorry that you couldn't locate the 160" buck. Those are tough days on the mountain. But frankly I think you did a good thing with your tag, benefitting more than just yourself.

Way to go my friend..!! And thanks for sharing your success. You got more pics of the buck..?? Or maybe even the dog..?? I think yours is a pretty unique story...

Glad you were successful. I have a muzzleloader elk tag for the books isn't the end of the month . I haven't been down there the last three weeks. Had the Bulls started bugling when you were there? See any big ones?

Nice archery Buck, getting a buck with Archery equipment is a pretty impressive deal to do, doing it with kids in tow is outstanding.

I found a dead buck roughly the same time you would have lost yours. If someone can give the general area they lost one I can direct them to this buck.

Keep us all posted on the lost buck WhiskeyDog and Ranger1... We'd love to hear how it all plays out.

sad the books ,just a city boys hunt, lots of little bucks so the dwr can make you city boys think your big time hunters, while people that hunted it for years local, will never get to hunt it again,,,,,,

The same could be said of every LE unit in the state elkun. In fact, it could be said of every general season area for that matter. Poor country boys who think they own the deer they live near... Boohoo What a douchey comment.

Couldn't of said it better! LOL

I've had a few PM's but none match up to the buck I found. It was a 4x4, 150 class buck. I've spent several days on the mountain since, figured I'd run into DWR to report the buck, but haven't once seen them. You'd think with so many hunts on one of Utah's premier units they'd have a few guys out there.

come on boys. its been slow around here ,you can do better than grammer and puncuation, hell you know what I said is the truth...

Well elkun, you know what the Scripture says, "As a man thinks in His heart, so is He". So if the DWR makes us think were big time hunters then I guess we are.:D
Congratulations to the hunter on a fine bow buck.

Hey WhiskeyDog, maybe you could start a thread titled Book Cliffs Buck Found... I'm sure whomever shot that buck would love to get it back if at all possible. :)
