Hello All...

I was having a heck of a time yesterday getting this post on this web site.. I was even having some trouble uploading the pics.. however with that being said.. I did not get my story out that I wanted to about this deer.. I had shot this deer by Riggins Idaho.. I was hunting in the back country hunting backpacking style.. I had shot the deer, took care of it and the meat and had my tag on it. The buck was caped up to the back of the head. I had the meat and deer by a well known trail(off the trail about a 100yards) near a creek.. Since I was hunting with everything on my back.. I left the meat and horns, to return later to start packing it out, so that I could make a couple trips.. When I returned everything was gone... Everything!!!! horns, meats everything.. I could not believe my eyes what I was seeing. I looked everywhere..high and low..I thought maybe an anmial maybe got it, just wasnt sure.. The very next morning I brought help back in to help look for it...We looked for hours and hours.... Long story short... Something/someone has this buck.. So... I ask that everyone help pass the word and keep an eye out for this buck... It is a one of a kind buck.. there is not going to be another buck like it out there.. I would even give a reward for the return of this buck if found..... So Please help getting the news out.. Thanks

Damn! that is terrible. you cant trust anyone anymore. ill keep my eyes open and re-post your story and pictures.

Travis

Just want to throw this out there...... At this time.. I have NO idea what took this deer from me... I am trying to have a very open mind about it.. I would hope that someone didnt take it, But I was hunting in country that is full of wolves, cougars,etc... We are going to go back up there and look some more.. I will keep this post updated if anything is found... Thanks again

OMG! That's the worst thing I've heard on this site. I can't believe someone would do that to a fellow hunter. That's the best buck I have seen this year. Not because it's the biggest but I know public land in Idaho killing a buck like that is a tall order. What a true giant!!!!! I feel so bad for you and can't imagine.

You may have to call every taxidermist in the western states and send them pics of the buck and have them keep their eyes open. That will be a lot of time and effort but just might be worth it???????

I would think who ever has it would want it on the wall at some point.

SORRY man beautiful buck!

Hope you get closure on this buck. Riggins explains the look this buck has...I would put money it is a hybrid. Lots of nice whitetails in that country.

That's terrible. Best of luck to you.

Eel

It's written in the good Book that we'll never be asked to take more than we can. Sounds like a good plan, so bring it on!

Fantastic buck....horrible story. I can't believe someone would do that. No, I do believe someone would do that. I saw something similar years ago.

What a shame......... Sorry buddy

Just an update... Just wanted to let everyone know that I got the buck back... Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that help me getting this deer back

Wow, I missed this thread, and now totally intrigued. Had to post to get a notification in case the Paul Harvey comes through. Come on Ax, what's the "rest of the story"?

If I was Axman , I would be to busy rounding up my torches and pitchforks to waste time on the interweb .

Ax , great to hear you recovered your beautiful buck , I hope justice will be swift and stern

I just login in just to see.. but as I can see... lots of you want to know what happend..I dont blame ya.. but it is a long story.. I dont have the time right now..BUT.. I will get the story up so everyone knows how the whole thing started.. for start to end... it is quite the story.. But Again.. I can not say enough for all the help I got...and getting this word out... Blows my mind the amount of support that is out there...

Story will be coming soon!!!

Well.. this is a long story.. so.. i will try and tell the story short, but cover the details the best I can.. Everyone pretty much knows what happened to me with this deer.. when I went to pack it out, it was gone.. The reason I couldnt pack it out right when I shot it was... My pack was already loaded full.. I had no room.. I had to go unload my pack and come back to get it... Well, when I came back everything was gone.. The next day I went back in to look for it again with help.. We looked everywhere.. high and low.. spent hours and hours looking..But while we were looking.. we did infact see other boot tracks that were not mine.. no way no how.. They didnt even match close.. so that right there.. made me believe someone else had been there.. I was also hunting off the river from a boat.. I also found out, that someone had been in my boat as well, as things were moved and the front door to the boat was left open.. Which I know was shut, plus latched... so.. there again.. something wasnt right.. so.. I came home and went right to the Fish&game. I told them what had happened.. Long story short.. two guys.. Travis and Eddie, plus this story on "Monster Muley" helped get this story out.. and because of that, and all you folks.. the story went everywhere.. I mean it went everywhere.. so the word was out.. there was no way, that if this buck ever showed up somewhere.. someone would see it. well.. Monday the 22nd of December.. I got a hint that I neeeded to go back to the kill site, that the buck was there.. that it was stashed.. I wasnt able to ask many questions, as it was a phone call.. so.. This time of year the river should be frozen up, and shouldnt be able to go up it by boat.. I called my brother-in-law and asked if he would go, that I had to take the chance and go look.. so.. the morning of the 23rd.. the way we went up the river.. to my surprise.. the river had no ice.. we couldnt believe it.. so.. we made it up there, and went back to looking.. but this time.. we were looking in a place that I had never looked before. because of the tip.. well.. it didnt take 30mins and we found it.. it was in some brush and had two rocks on it.. which was weird, other than something didnt want this to go anywhere.. So.. my thoughts are this buck was stashed and someone or something was going to come back and get it.. but.. with it being all over the internet.. I am thinking that idea was wasnt a good one for whom ever, and just left it,and to never return to get it.. I was very happy, just about as happy as when I shot it.. So.. on the way back home.. I had stoped at a gas station.. at that gas station, I was showing the buck, while I was doing that, some guy approached me, and said wow.. nice buck.. it wasnt 2 seconds, and the guy said... "wait where did you get that buck?" he said that buck is all over the internet.. I thought to my self WOW!! oh neat is this.. Here this guys that doesnt know me from Adam, but knows this buck, and was going to do something about.. It took me 10 minutes to prove to that guy the buck was mine..lol... so.. long story short.. I found the buck, but may never know the whole story and what all happened. But like I said.. I got the buck back!!! Best christmas present ever!!

Glad you got your buck back however it is extremly shitty that someone would do that. Any true hunter would respect another mans trophy and work. Even just shooting a nice buck and having issues finding it in the dark gets me sick and the relief of finding it is amazing. However laying hands on it and losing it would bother me to no end glad you got closure.

I can't believe a loser would even move it, same as stealing in my book. I assume you lost the cape? Did the person take the meat?

Congrats on getting your buck back! I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but, I don't understand this part?

"Monday the 22nd of December.. I got a hint that I neeeded to go back to the kill site, that the buck was there.. that it was stashed.. I wasnt able to ask many questions, as it was a phone call.. so.."

Why did it seem weird that there were two rocks on it? Why say "something didn't want this to go anywhere"? When you had already gotten a tip that SOMEBODY had stashed it? Whomever called you did the stashing, or was with the person whom did the stashing, right?

Anyway, if you don't want to answer that's fine. It just seems that there is more to the story. If there is a thief out here in Idaho, I'd kinda like to know...

Again, great buck! Glad you found.

Outdoordan.... I guess I can see where you are coming from.. Maybe I should of proof read it a little better...I am not a book writer..lol just tried to tell a story the best I could.. But.. Truth be known.. I was always trying to keep an open mind about all of this.. Even in this post early.. I said that almost exact same thing... I have been in this country for over 25 years.. I have never seen, nor heard anything like this.. I was hoping that this country I have been hunting for years, did not have a thief in it.. I leave my boat parked on the river for days and days unattended.. You can not lock up a boat like you can a car or pickup.. It is open for the takings... So yes.. SOMEBODY, someone, and something moved my deer, plus took all the meat, and was in my boat... The big question will proably never get answered as to who took this.. moved it, was in my boat.. but I just pray that this story scared the living ##### out of the person that does know about this, AND WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!!

Glad you recovered the Rack Axman!

But what a Waste after all the work you put in to the Hunt!

Lose the Meat & Cape to a Game Thief!

We need a Name/Names!

Hang Em High!

There's some Real F'N Dandies out there!

Reminds me of a Story on the Uintas several years ago!

A younger Hunter shot a decent Bull!

After Gutting it he went for help to get the Bull out!

On the way back in they Run in to 2 other JACK-ASSES taking/packing his bull out!

The Younger Hunter wasn't no Dummy!

After almost a Gun Fight they left & called the Law!

The time the Law showed up the 2 JOKERS had the Bull packed out & loaded!

The Young Hunter told the Law officials he could prove it was his Bull!

How asked the Law Officials?

The Young hunter had took his knife, made a slit & slid his Tag under the Skin!

Sure enough, the Tag was still where he had hid it!

Never did hear what they done(if anything?) to the Thieves?

But they ended up packin the Kids Bull out only to hand it back over to the owner!

A little Poetic Justice I guess!:D

Good enough! Glad you got it back, and hope these guys don't try it again. I have two friends that got stuff stolen while they were hunting or scouting. Both happened this year. One lost a pistol, spotter, binos, and misc. other crap out of his locked truck (oh yeah, they broke the window too). The other had backed a trailer up to a tree, and locked it. They pushed the trailer with their truck to get it away from tree, then cut the lock. Took a bunch of things. Damn thiefs, even in the mountains...

I use to think thieves were too lazy to be found in the woods, far from the city. Lately, more and more of these stories are making me more cynical and paranoid. And angry.

In fact, it pisses me off more. I expect to be robbed in town, not the woods. I go to the wild to get away from these jokers.

....my head hurts now....stupidity has no bounds.....

I liked it big...fondler doesn't

Glad you got the rack back. And good on you having nice pictures to go with it. After buying a new cape and having it mounted, the only real lose will be the meat. But what you did gain is two stories. One about the hunt and one after. Most of us can't top that. :)
Congrats

You guys are all jumping to way too many conclusions... I've heard just how smart the wolves are up there in Idaho, and I'm betting it was a couple of them rummaging through the boat and stashing the antlers to put on their cave wall... :)

Glad this stud buck was recovered..!!!

Congrats on the buck and also recovering it. Social media can be an amazing tool! Great
Buck and I agree with the guy that said it looks like a hybrid. The eye guards and face and right antler look whitetailish.
