I can't find a big buck that will stay put till the season opens. It might be Idaho's general seasons with so many people, the deer has to know what is up. I have scouted places that is far from roads and trails, but have only ran into mountain goats and big horn sheep. So, my question is: Have you ever seen mule deer in the same places as the sheep and goats? or am I just wasting my time in the rocks and cliffs?

I have seen some big bucks hunting goats in ID. If your looking for young tender 2 pointers, hunt lower. If the feed and cover is good, there will be good bucks. Some units have better genetics than others. Good luck.

Keep scouting in those higher elevations, I do in Colorado!

I've seen several bucks while scouting/hunting for elk in higher elevations. As a matter of fact they are the largest of all the bucks I've been seening. Twice while makin my way into an area I wanted to hunt elk I pushed a huge buck, once up there, I sat just below a ridge watching big horns run around the peak and saw the buck moving around below eating while waiting for elk to appear. Last year while fishing a high altitude lake I watched 8 goats on the left ridge and a buck feeding on the right and the fishing wasn't bad either. I have more stories but you get the point...
