Finally getting around to posting this. Its been a great year for my family. We hunted 3rd season in CO this year for deer, elk, and bear. The elk and bears didn't cooperate this year but deer hunting was really fun. First off we were trying a unit we've never hunted before so it took awhile to figure out where the animals were hanging out. My brother got the first shot of the trip and was able to bag his first buck.

My wife meet us at camp a few days later. She has only gone hunting a few days with me before this, and this was her first tag ever. She was 7 months pregnant at this time and did great hiking around. She spotted her buck while my brother and I were looking for his camera that got misplaced while gutting his buck. We hiked up a steep hill where she saw the buck last and located him just across a bowl on the top. He was bedded in some thick brush and that gave my wife time to watch him and calm down. He finally began to walk around chasing does and my wife got her shot. She hit him three times before he went down for good. We got to the buck and I could tell my wife was unsure of how to feel about killing something. I said a prayer thanking the buck and she seemed ok with it after that. Her dad and my brother joined us and we got the buck cleaned and packed out.

The last and most special first just came Thursday. My wife and I welcomed our first child to the world. He's a big strong boy and I'm beyond happy. Everyone says you don't know what its like to have a baby until it happens. That is very true. I have never loved anything so quickly or had a greater feeling of happiness. I thank God that him and my wife both a healthy and happy. I can't wait to take him hunting and fishing with me but am also enjoying him as is right now. I know he is gonna grow way to fast so I'll just enjoy this moment.

Great story. That's what hunting and life are all about. Congrats to you and your family. Tough act to follow. I'll bet you don't get all three of those again this year.
