That's funny stuff. The DNR does the same thing in the Midwest and if someone hits one with their car during the rut they try to give out another 100,000 tags.
I'm in Wisconsin and the hunter numbers are down every year, but the DNR in their wisdom wants the cash so they keep opening up more seasons or allowing more people to buy tags.
First its early seasons gun hunts, then its youth hunts, then its month long late season rifle hunts, the Holiday hunts, then its mentor hunts where the 10 year olds can hunt without a hunters safety class with an adult, last year they opened up crossbows to everyone and anyone for a whopping $3 premium for the crossbow right.
We joke that this year they are having the inner city youth hunt where all the kids less than 18 years old that live in the city's can shoot one out the window of the car with a shining light! That's gonna be Nov 4th-10th when the big boys are trailing the ladies so they get some dandies to put in the paper.
It's amazing that they still shoot a lot of nice deer in this state. If they did anything to improve the quality of the hunt it would be off the charts and they could charge $450 for out of state licenses and actually sell them to more than just the poor local kid that moved away and is coming back to hunt with his family out of tradition.
