LAST EDITED ON May-08-15 AT 08:10AM (MST) by Founder (admin)[p]Here's a buck I filmed in Southern Utah back before there was digital.
I think he's real close to 30" wide but is he over or under?
I'm guessing an inch or two over.

If that was the only view i got of him, ide be shooting! He sure looks wide from the back, but as we all know, they look wider from the back. My best guess is he is right at 30, but thats just a guess. Thanks for posting.

When going away the rule of thumb is take off 4 inches from what you think he is and you will be right on.

My first thoughts were 32-33". I'd feel safe guessing he's 31".

Pretty Bugger, Thanks for posting!

I think he was a tad under that 30" mark with his ears almost as wide as the rack. But I wouldn't pass him up and hope when I walked up to him, he would grow.

looks like a young buck. I'm guessing just under 30. His ears are almost as wide as the rack. 28"-29".

Never judge width from the back.

Things got a thick neck and body. At the point where he is straight away, his rack looks to stick out past his body by at least 5" on each side. If his body is 20" wide, then I'm guessing he's a 30" buck...
