Well I did not draw a tag, and I have yet to find a voucher here in CO! I am wanting to expand my hunting and try another state! Being a teacher my best week will be thanksgiving and prefer to archery hunt. With all the drawings over, what are my option for a DIY hunt in late November! I have been looking and hear talk about both Arizona and New Mexico having options, but I would rather hunt Idaho or Montana....

I have looked into Idaho unit 39. But seems like a hard hunt and lots of competition.

What are my option and other information you might be willing to share?

Jam willing to help out anyone in CO in the xchange! Also if anyone else in CO is in the same boat and wants to plan together let me know! Buying a wall tent this summer and hope to have a good camp for the week!

If you are talking about deer you might want to consider hunting the extended archery season in Utah? Thanksgiving week is usually the best time to hunt it. It can get crowded, but you can hike to get away from most of the crowds. Pick up a leftover archery tag for any general unit, take the online course and go hunt.

I thought about that... Also looked at unit 39 in Idaho, but ,y dad talked me into a Montana hunt so he can tag along with his rifle.

I went ahead and got a tag as it seems to offer a lot options for a hunt and hopefully I can find a buck with the bow in the midst of the rifle hunters!

It will be fun to go far! In Utah is the only extended hunt on the front?

South Dakota hunts are close to that date.

elks i am in the same boat, teacher and b-ball coach I hit Nebraska for whitetail right before the basketball season starts second week of November and have gone to oklahoma over Thanksgiving break to hunt with a rifle. both very good options and very affordable

I will be watching this closely. I'm also a HS teacher and always looking for opportunities that are available when school is out.

Lately I have been applying for the unit 12 hunts here in AZ that open the Friday before Thanksgiving. They are rifle hunts but I sometimes hunt them with a bow. Lots of opportunity for mule deer, coues deer and javelina over Christmas/New years break. Deer tags can be bought over the counter and javelina is very easy to draw.

Good Hunting

All that wasted time off in the summer.

And a max of 3 weeks during hunting season, tough.

When I used to commercial fish out of Tomales Bay, 1/2 the fisherman were teachers and I envied them. After reading this, not so much.

The late rifle elk hunts in AZ begin the day after Thanksgiving so that may be something you could look at in the future. And that last week of the general tag in Montana is probably the best time to catch a nice muley or whitetail rutting.

Good luck.
