Unit 18B First time Hunt Help

I am looking for some guidance in unit 18B - My son and I were drawn for the unit (Oct Rifle hunt) and not at all familiar with the area but will be doing lots of scouting and get prepared. This will be my sons first deer hunt @ 14yrs old - we have been putting in for areas I am familiar with along with everyone else and we haven;t drawn out over last several years. So i would like to make his first hunt memorable by him getting a nice buck or even a buck at all. I reviewed previous posting regarding the area and will also be contacting the game manager for the area - but any assistance will be appreciated. thanks in advance for taking the time to review this request and any advice you can provide.

I guess that would have help - I am in Arizona. since I posted this I have contacted the Game Manager for that region; left couple messages with no return call yet, must be busy I was told she was pretty responsive so I try again a little later. I have also found a guide that hunts the area for ELK on some private land and turn outs he went to high school with my neighbor, so I am working that lead as well. any help you can provide if your familiar with the Az Unit 18B will be helpful.

Try the area east of Anvil Rock Road and south of the powerlines (the unit boundary). Also look at Bozarth, Contreras and Behm Mesa's north and east of Bagdad. The Pine Creek area is also worth checking out. Good Luck!
