Hey there guys. Just looking at draw odds and glanced at the new North Slope Rifle hunt as well as the Zion Muzzy hunt.

Looks like every single person that put in for the North Slope hunt got their tag. Only 116 total- I'm thinking that left a few to be purchased afterwards..?? Anybody on here draw that tag..?? Looks like a guy with 9BPs and another with 8BPs drew it. Gotta sting a little knowing people with 0 BPs drew the same tag. Wondered if they turned those back in.

Also, looks like the Zion Muzzy hunt got a couple guys with 14 and 13 BPs to bite. Maybe that tag will be worth it. Great time of year to be out with the Muzzy. Like the old days.

Just seein if anyone drew these tags or knows some who did.

I put in for Zion. I was disappointed in the southern RAC for voting to change the number of tags from 10 to 3.

I was surprised when the southern rac made that recommendation. I was glad to see the Wildlife Board go with the DWR recommendation of 10 tags.

The hunt dates are too close to the general rifle without a good early November storm. Based on the last 15 years hunting muzzleloader elk in early November, I wouldn't spend any points on these hunts.

The fact that everyone with 0 BPs that put in for the North Slope hunt drew the tag says volumes about that hunt. It is not nearly as good as many General Season units.

Seems this might be a trend we start to see..?? Like the DWR is going to try and even-out some of the LE and General Season units..?? Like we're going to start to see some poor LE units/hunts and some general season hunts will start to be more coveted... Until such a day that they finally tell us that we have to choose to put in for LE or GS, but not both...

For the record, I believe having to choose between LE or GS is the only way to combat the "point creep"... :-(

I agree. I think these hunts are more about opportunity and spreading pressure around far as points. To move these hunts back a week or so and add a few more units to the mix would help greatly with draw odds on some of the limited entry units. I would throw my stack of chips in the pot for any number of general units if they were to open mid November for a few muzzy tags.

I'm with you Shadow. There are some areas that could support a late season muzzy hunt. And they would definitely draw some guys out of the other LE Deer Hunt pools. I have a feeling that the Zion hunt is going to give the DWR some more ideas for other units next year. It took 223 guys out of the Bonus Pools for other hunts by itself. 2 or 3 more hunts like that, and we'll start to see a little improvement to the point creep. :)
