Just found out im the owner of a multi-season deer tag on the Books after a surrendered tag. Not looking for anyone's honey hole but would like to steer clearof the crowds and hunt hard for a really nice buck. Ill be hunting muzz and the entire rifle hunt and can hunt the entire unit. Any and all advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.

If I were you. I would try to get out early and hunt while the deer are still on top. I feel that will give you a better chance at a top end buck for out there. The rifle is good. But it was busier than the earlier hunts.

Good luck

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-15 AT 04:41PM (MST)[p]Looking at the Pool of applicants that had 11 Bonus Points for that tag, I am 1 of only two guys from that Bonus Pool that didn't get that multi-season tag. So, there's a little part of me that hates you... :)

Aside from that, while the archery hunt will offer opportunity at good bucks with a bow, I much prefer bucks that are hard-horned. If you're heading out there this weekend at all, stay near the Divide Road. (Though reports seem to indicate that the deer are quite spread out this year compared to others).

The muzzy hunt can offer some of the same opportunity at bucks at close range on top as well. The problem is that some bigger bucks wise up and hide out until its time to migrate off the top.

That is why the rifle hunt can be your best bet. The big boys all move out of their hidey holes. But you still have to luck into one.

I'm jealous you got the tag. I got nothing this year. Good luck to you. And if you haven't been out there at all, you better get crackin. :)
