It sure seems like there have been more big bucks than normal killed so far this year in Utah. It is probably a combination of everything below, but what do you guys think the biggest factor is?

a)social media gives us access to a lot more pictures, this year isn't any different than others.

b)more archery hunters and better equipment

c)mild winters and wet springs

d)smaller unit sizes

e)other

4 years of C would be my answer. Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado are all showing the same positive trend, and many of there units have seen a increase in tag numbers. Thanks mother nature, keep it up. A few more years of these dream winters, accompanied by reasonable tag numbers could make for some very interesting mule deer hunting. Lets keep our fingers crossed. I also believe hunting is becoming more competitive, and guys are becoming more selective in there harvest. Also technology is getting out of control, making it easier to kill big, sneaky, mature deer.

It is Option #2 combined with the mild Winters.

The mild winters allowed more deer to survive and Option 2 took more hunters out of the field and allowed more bucks to survive.

Heard on the news that the weather service said that there is a strong El Nino setting up in the Pacific. They are saying that the snow/moisture this next winter will rival the '82/'83 years. If winter turns out to be that way all the growth in the deer herds go be easily wiped out in one tough winter.

I'm an optimist, so I'm going to call B.S. on the harsh winter. Although I do have a late season tag that I could use some snow on. Guess we will see.

Funny, I was thinking opposite, wondering when all the success pics would show up. There's been some good ones shown, but completely subjective, seems like less to me.
