I took this picture in 2012. SnkyHuntr took the second picture in 2015 in the same unit. I hope SnkyHuntr is ok with me re posting his buck pick.

What do you think is it the same buck?????

I don't think so for the same reasons 6x7 said.

he looks pretty dang close to me. tough to tell without other pics from yrs 13,14 to see what he did. but its possible that he regressed a little.

Looking at his rack on the left it very could be him or one of his offspring.

I don't think it would be the same buck regressed. They come off the pedicle different from each other which shouldn't change with age.

Similar bucks, but not the same one. As has been noted, I believe their antlers come off their heads in very different fashion...

Still, they're good lookin and with some age, will be even better. :)

they both are mule deer...they both have 4 legs pointing down....they both have antlers pointing up....must be...

I say same buck just older. As a deer ages the horns start coming off at different points on the skull because the skull changes as it grows.

It sure could be! Interesting couple of pictures, nice thread!

That buck may not score that well because of his short points but he has a heck of a nice frame on him!

I have a follow up question.
How old is the buck in 2012. I put him at 8 years old back in 2012. That means the 2015 pic would be a 11 year old deer on his down hill slide. 11 year's old is very doable on this unit. We saw bucks in 2004 that we could still identify in 2008.

How old is he? Is 8 too high for the 2012 photo???

No worries Roadless. I think it is cool you have a pic from 2012 that could be the same buck. They are at least related and have the same genes.
