LAST EDITED ON Nov-10-15 AT 03:08PM (MST)[p]I know the story.

Rich/lucky guy gets/buys overpriced tag reserved for privileged individuals only.

Hires/Gets "persuaded" by famous guide to "guide" him on a hunt on a small, secluded, unwooded island with marvelous/highly selective/(and some would argue)manipulated/ gene pool that he and his brother could hunt just as easily on a weekday morning before getting back for work in the mid-afternoon full of deer who have no natural predators and have become habituated to humans and don't have the natural instincts to run like the deer just 3/4 of a mile away.

They "spot" the buck and make a "miraculous" stalk (ten steps from the truck, or at least to the back end to get a dead rest off the tailgate) and an "awesome" 200 yard shot (with a doped up long range scope and laser range finder)and the "hunter" then allows the famous guide to post the "hunt" on his website and facebook page.

Same hunt every year.

"Pics or it didn't happen!"

What a stud! I'm just happy Denny Austad didn't get the tag this year! We all know that some rich person is going to buy the tag, every year. I'm just glad that it's someone else this time. I know I would want to shoot the biggest buck I could find if I had that tag.

That left side is very unique. Never seen anything quite like it

venor, ergo sum (I hunt, therefore I am)

Its obvious to me that Dumbo Feather has never spent any time on Antelope Island! I guess its easy to be envious of someone that is of Affluence, But the money raised will be put to good use for wildlife habitat. My hats off to Doyle and to the hunter for taking another Giant off the Island.

That's pretty much how I image it happening and I've been to the island. Besides didn't Nyuna tell a similar story about last years hunt I mean deer shoot and he was there.

That is a really cool buck!

The AI hunt is what it is. I don't get too riled up about the details as I know what it is and know what to expect. I do love to see pictures and video of the deer there.

Though its a sure bet that Doyles hunter will always get the buck they want, pretty much everything little 2 feathers stated was false. A person and his brother most likely never see's that buck. It took the state hunter a dozen guys help to find him over the weekend. You can look at the picture and see it wasn't anywhere near a road, or truck. Haters just gonna hate. More because of what they hear, instead of what they know.

The state hunter has the same hunt, same deer herd, same island, but 2 feathers isn't bagging on him and the army of guys he's using to help.

Good post Yelum.

2feathers isn't hammering the state hunter because according to his post the state hunter doesn't even exist.

Why is it that you rich bastards always think that everyone else is envious of you? ("envious of somene that is of Affluence" - good god, where the hell did you go to school? Duchesne? What they hell does that evern mean??!!) I guess if that is what you got to tell your kids to hide your shame from them it is a cute little story.

I couldn't give two shitties whether or not anybody kills a zoo deer on antelope island. To me, it isn't a big deal. It would be cool it it were a handicapped kid or a wounded vet maybe, but there is just something wrong when it goes to the highest bidder (or is it really "bedder"!!).

But go ahead - by all means, delude yourself into thinking you are really helping wildlife and keep on bragging about it like it is some big feat and genuflecting to the hunting royalty and pissin donw both legs whenever someone kills one of them zoo bucks like that!! It ain't envy - more like disgust and pity.

Keep on congratulating Ol' Mr. Superguide too! He's the one laughing all the way to the bank - probably the easiest advertising dollars he has ever spent.

"Pics or it didn't happen!"

>I heard he paid over 300k.
>He out bedded Denny Austad.

LMFAO!!!!!

"Out bedded Denny Austad" - funniest chit I have every heard on here!! I knew there was more than just money changing hands for them tags!!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Hope the old boy get hisself a reach around at least!!

Holy hell that is too funny!

"Pics or it didn't happen!"

Great post Yelum, I know those deer mean a lot to you personally.

I completely understand that this hunt is different than other hunts. However it is what it is. My hat goes off to those willing to put their money out there for something that we can all benefit from.

Great buck and congrats to all those involved.

For the last 5 years, the island has received 90% of the permit money from the 2 auctioned tags. It has gone exclusively to the island. habitat improvements like bitter brush, guzzlers, water tanks, etc have taken place. With the new contract, There is rumors that the state wants the money to spread around the state, not just the island. We'll see what happens.

Yes shotgun1 that is one of the tough ones to fine. If you read the post it said over a mile away. He got lucky. I saw that buck 2 times all summer and saw him again for the 1st time since early July, just last Sat. You can find deer out there and some nice bucks. But hunters aren't looking to see bucks. They are looking for the best 2 bucks.

The buck MB shot went 3 months without being seen by anyone, including including the hunters/guides.

Great buck and congrats to the hunter, but I hope Denny can rebound next year. I kind of miss him.

Little feather i assume your native american so
how is this different from them shooting bighorn rams out of the window up in washington and oregan? Or over in colorado the extreme late buck and bull seasons. Or the july bull hunts over on the deep creeks. Most antelope hunts they for the most part stick around to be shot from the road.

I would bet most if not all your game has been shot pretty close to the truck....

That's a pretty bold assumption without knowing anything about the guy!

Rut

I would say you are correct Rut...bold blind assumptions by someone who knows nothing about the hunters involved and the way they conduct their hunt.....that was the point of the post.

His whole post was based on assumptions and what he has read and heard from the people opposed to the hunt. I am sure he packs his camp on his back and never see's the truck in the daylight.
