I just heard that and Oakcreek deer tag sold for $31,000 last weekend at a banquet in Cedar. Is that right?

Big rough country. Low deer densities. A few big bucks got killed last year. I think somebody is going to be disappointed.

That's kind of like when the Monroe elk tag sold for so much. Then we found out about Spider bull. Someone may now something we don't ? Didn't they kill a couple of big ones off that unit last year? Time will tell!

Maybe........ Not for sure but, maybe the buyer wanted to donate a few thousand and figured he'd like to hunt the oak creek this year, regardless of how big any of it's deer might

Lots of "maybes" regarding folks motives when it comes to these auction tags, or so it seems.

Maybe There'll be a SPIDER Buck show up out of Nowhere!

If the tag of the price jumped that much in 1 year, I would bet there were two different guides/outfitters that found a monster and their clients were in a bidding war.

It had to be a bidding war. Nobody in their right mind donates 31K to hunt a deer just for donation purposes on that unit. They would use it on the Pauns or something like that.

Like mentioned before, 2 guides found a sweet buck and somebody really wants it.

Plenty of shady $hit happens on that unit. if a giant is found someone will chase him off into a hell hole guaranteed!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-16 AT 09:54PM (MST)[p]They will all be hunting the same 3 or 4 big bucks left on the unit. It will be a freakn zoo up there this year. That is a small unit and some damn good hunters from Around the state who know the unit like the back of their hand will also have those same 3 or 4 big deer scouted. I will say again, this will be a zoo and their could be some not so good moments on the mountain. Especially if guides whose clients have paid big money try to tell Ave Joe to leave. A lot of guys I know from delta have a lot of pts and will be applying for this unit. Hope I'm wrong, about not Many good moments on the mountain between hunters.

I watched two old ladies get in a bidding war at a charity auction last Saturday night. Before it was all said and done the winning lady bought a half gallon of jumbo fresh strawberries for $350.

You never know how them things are gonna pan out and for what reasons.

Well muley when Ya draw a bow tag and you watch a buck all summer then have people with muzzle/rifle tags walk in there clapping and yelling every time you go in to hunt the animal tryingt o save it for there hunt it gets pretty intense! Special when bigger bucks it only takes once and they disappear. It happens every year on that unit!

You think they have a few of those giant muleys on the high fence ranches that are 300 plus inches ready to release on the unit this spring that will just appear for these high rollers? Im thinking that would show how well the DWR is managing their units. Or do you think they'll do like the spider bull and go for the world record?
