When I walked up to that buck, the first words out of my mouth were, "The typical frame on that buck exceeds the world record Burris buck". I spoke with Paul Pennie at length about it and before I walked off he asked if I knew that was a "ranch buck". I said I did not, then turned and walked away thinking that I may have just seen the beginning of a mule deer mess much like what's happened with whitetails.

Yup,
It was only a matter of time.
Paul had some incredible buck racks at his shop that easily fit inside the frame of Bess's aptly named "JUDAS" buck.

Its not unusual for BESS to confuse me, but I'm not sure which buck he's calling Judas. This 1st pic is the Island buck killed by the state hunter, known as Judas. He's 35 wide and scores around 230.

This 2nd buck was the Mexico buck. No clue how wide he is, but the mount was my show fav.

That AI buck looks very similar to my 2015 SJ Buck. I wonder if my buck came out of one of the AI Transplants?? They have the same look and identical kickers.

Great buck, but the fawns from the 1st transplant would just be turning 2 this summer, so probably not.

Bess,

I made my way to the expo/Full Curl and was treated to all the sights and sounds of another successful event. I really didn't miss the 12 guys who boycotted. I bumped into near countless folks who I wanted to see. It's a great social even for me.

I've got a soft spot for big mule deer and the expo was almost sensory overload with all the awesome bucks! I was in heaven.
